Picked this up during the Steam sale a week or so ago, only recently started playing.

I'm digging it so far, though I'm not a fan of the lock-on you have going during the attacks, but I can live with it. Also not a huge fan of the full-on gearing and inventory system, but that's not a dealbreaker either, and killin' fools is enjoyable enough that I can look past both of my gripes. Plus, gear upgrades being around also means I get to enjoy getting new gear! Plus I doubt it's as grindy as any MMO.

I've died twice or so to the earth elemental thing though. [lol]

For me the real boogerbear is the puzzles. I'm sorry, I thought this was a game about the Horseman of Death, not Professor Layton.

So the remastered version of the original game is out. I think it's been out for a while, but I only noticed it today. You get it for free if you had the original. Anyway, it's still the same, just prettier. That's not really a bad thing, but there were some issues with the original that they've made no attempt to fix.

Does anyone know if this means that the franchise is rescued and we might get Darksiders 3? Last I checked, the company was belly-up and no one seemed interested in continuing.

Well a lot of THQ's stuff got rescued and put into THQ Nordic, so there's a chance that we'll get a Darksiders 3.

Gonna be a bit difficult to get back the staff of Vigil Games though. Bunch of the staff ended up at Crytek, other former Vigil employees have gone to work for Retro Studios, Battlecry Studios, Certain Affinity and many others. Many of the staff also joined Gunfire Games, a company set up in 2014 by the studio's founder David L. Adams; there is also Airship Syndicate, formed by co-founder Joe Madureira in 2015.

That being said, PlatinumGames did express interest a while ago.

That would be awesome, especially since Platinum isn't likely to kill the game's flow with puzzles.

I kinda wonder if NieR: Automata might be What Could Have Been in that regard, what with both being Wide-Open Sandbox Action RPG games with an emphasis on dungeon exploration and Spectacle Fighter combat set After the End.

That said, I guess there's nothing really stopping Nordic from contracting Platinum for the next entry.

I do hope they dial down the Diablo-style loot in the future, though. I preferred the first's more Zelda-style of gear to the sequel just dropping random loot that had a bad habit for me of being uglier than what I was currently using.
