Power corrupts. Knowledge is Power. Study hard. Be evil.No. The guys on the ENEMY soldier's radio. The one who informs them if reinforcements are coming or not.
You mean the nameless person you can hear through the enemies radio's? Your discussing....their personalities between the the games? They have personalities to speak of?
Power corrupts. Knowledge is Power. Study hard. Be evil.Yeah, they don't have much personality but it's a surprising amount for what it is, it shows that they put some effort into it.
In the quiet of the night, the Neocount of Merentha mused: How long does evolution take, among the damned? This thread has inspired me to pick Metal Gear Solid on PS 1 back up. Psycho Mantis down, Sniper Wolf coming up...
Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia!I'm still stuck on the torture scene.
Seeing all these piss ant tropers trying to talk tough makes me laugh. If Matrix were here, he'd laugh too.Either surrender immediately, or else get a pencil and rub it across the circle button really fast. That's honestly just about the only way to do it.
visit my blog!Isn't the only functional difference between the way Solid Snake fought in MGS 1 and MGS 2, and the way he fought in MGS 4, the fact that he now holds a knife in his off-hand? You could even do throws in those games (though they weren't nearly as effective as the instant-takedowns of CQC, but again, CQC is an upgraded game mechanic evolved into a plot point).
I think the only reason CQC became so important was so Kojima, through Snake, could whine about how nobody seems to remember that Big Boss started as a bad guy.
We Are The Wyrecats Needs Tropes!x6
Not personalities, just...interestingness. The radio voice in MGS 3 was so flat and boring and didn't do anything but acknowledge transmissions given from the field. The one in MGS 2 would yell at his men to wake up, would be instantly suspicious if anyone was missing, and even when acknowledging a transmission, would do so in a context-specific manner. He was also slightly menacing.
Yeah its random compared to all the other things most talk about with MGS, but eh.
I assume we're all big enough MGS fans here that any detail is fair game for intense discussion. I honestly didn't notice the enemy C Os before, but you're right that the ones in MGS 2 seemed more dynamic.
We Are The Wyrecats Needs Tropes! The last time I played Metal Gear Solid 1, the torture scene wasn't a challenge. You just have to hit the circle button as much and as fast as you can, but be prepared for a sore arm by the time its all over. I actually found it really immersive....whenever Ocelot would go "Shall we go again?", me and Snake would both be thinking "Fuuuuck."
Just give it all you got man. Aint hard.
Power corrupts. Knowledge is Power. Study hard. Be evil.I always had a lot of trouble in the torture chamber and it seemed impossible. Except for the last time I played it, in which it didn't seem too hard and I could do it without much problem.
People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.I am just not good at button mashing.
Heh, I noticed on Vamp's part of the character page, he has only sane man on it. I suppose compared to the b and bs he is.
Seeing all these piss ant tropers trying to talk tough makes me laugh. If Matrix were here, he'd laugh too.I have a question: will it really affect the story if I kill people in MGS4?

Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Nope, not one bit. However if you decide to go on a really big killing spree (usually somewhere over 50), Snake will start experiencing flashbacks regarding Liquid, which will cause him to lose a lot of psyche. Also if you tranq the bosses instead of killing them you get their faces as a camo, and the cinematic for beating them shows you knocking them out instead of killing them.
You'll get bonus drebin points if you don't kill people.
Seeing all these piss ant tropers trying to talk tough makes me laugh. If Matrix were here, he'd laugh too.I found out yesterday that The Twin Snakes has both MGS 1 AND 2.
I feel stupid for wasting $8 and limited PS 2 memory for MGS 2. But I can't afford to buy a copy of 2xSnakes (Gamestop has it for $24!)
Oh. Thanks for that, that back cover blurb must be miserable pile of lies and secrets, then.
Yeah, Twin Snakes has the story and levels of MGS 1, the enhanced controls of MGS 2, and the cutscene style of any number of generic action movies.
We Are The Wyrecats Needs Tropes!I never managed to get CQC in MGS 4 to work... I had it mastered in 3 but then it felt like they made it more complicated for no reason.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Anyone pick up the MGS HD Collection yet? I'm so glad they came out with this since now I can officially play all for main series games on my non-backwards compatible PS 3, plus Peace Walker, which I never did get around to picking up. I'm also happy they included most of the bonus features from the PS 2 rereleases of MGS 2 and 3, especially since I only ever did get the original release of MGS 3 (although I do have MGS 2 Substance).
I'm actually playing through MGS 2 first. I don't even remember the last time I gave that one a playthrough it was so long ago. I'll likely move on to Peace Walker eventually.
It's actually pretty amazing how well MGS 2 has held up despite being 10 (!) years old now. Sure, you're not going to mistake it for a current gen game just by looking at it, even if they did clean it up a bit to look nice in HD, but it still plays as well as it did years ago.
I'll have to wait until February, unless I want to import, but will probable pick it up for peace walker alone since I don't have a PSP.

In the quiet of the night, the Neocount of Merentha mused: How long does evolution take, among the damned?I finished Metal Gear Solid 4. That was not a game, that was a subpar, poorly exposited movie. I liked the ending though, even if I don't understand why Ocelot did what he did.
But man, Kojima has some serious issues with women.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.

My mistake, I didn't clarify...I mean the CO for the enemies. The guy on the radio the soldiers always talk to? In MGS 2 he had more personality than the guy in MGS 3.
