Would Raiden survive?
Better question: could Manus take on a Metal Gear RAY?
but HOW?I incline to yes.
Probably, considering lore wise he is pretty powerful.
Everything that lives is designed to end.Orenstein and smough vs Armstrong.
Armstrong needed a lot of effort and a armor piercing weapon to cut through his Greed ability.
Oooh thatss another matchup that's interesting.. Greed vs Armstrong (or solidus versus Furher Bradley).
Sen. Armstrong vs Greed is like an armored SUV vs a bullet train on steroids

In regards to the Dark Souls vs Metal Gear Rising question, we'd need to figure out just what exactly we're comparing against. For one the protagonists of the games aren't terribly powerful, and in fact are notable for how fragile and realistically limited they are versus everything else they face, with the exception of carrying around absurd weapons like the Fume Ultra-greatsword. Even including all of the fancy pyromancies and magics, I don't see much hope of surviving against the likes of Monsoon, Raiden, or Armstrong. And it becomes an even more confusing question if you consider that one of the greatest strengths of the Chosen Undead/Ashen One is their ability to endlessly revive at bonfires, no matter how many times or how gruesomely they die.
On the other hand, Knight Artorias, the Soul of Cinder, Sister Friede and everyone's favorite duo would be more evenly matched, but none of them have the absurd strength and cutscene insanity going for them. Speed would be another factor too; most of the cyborgs in the Rising universe are pretty speedy and can quickly strike and relocate, whereas most Dark Souls characters require slow, deliberate moves and careful timing, bosses included.
But Raiden vs the bosses of Dark Souls
Can Raiden parry their attacks would be the big deciding factor.
Pretty sure his Zandatsu ability alone would break most of the Dark Souls bosses, and the speed at which he can attack, jump and move would make it even easier. Forget about including his insane cutscene feats; nobody from the Souls (or even Bloodborne) games would stance a chance.
Hm, I think there are only few in Soulsborne series that Raiden cannot defeat:
Manus and Great Ones come to mind. He'll have hard fight against dragons too (specifically, Kalameet, Sinh and Midir trio. Oh, and Ancient Dragon)
Others are a fair game.
Everything that lives is designed to end.I'm genuinely surprised that this is a question.
Raiden kills things about as big as the average Souls boss and does it faster. And unlike the Souls protagonist he can ascend easily, climb on top of creatures, wall run, use his sword to deflect projectiles, move faster than rocket-propelled projectiles, and slice through things with a far greater amount of force.
The only problems he would have are against creatures the size of Dragon God and enemies that require specific lore-based boons to defeat... the likes of which I can't seem to remember existing. Fliers wouldn't have any real advantage given how high Raiden can jump. He can just Cloud Strife their winged asses.
Manus, Flamelurker, Ornstein, Smough, Gwyn, none of those would even come close to imperiling Raiden.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I was about to say Yhorm and Hollow Vendrick, but then I remembered. It just takes too long to kill them without special magical lore power (or weapon).
A question still stands... can he kill Kalameet and Sinh in their prime form (uninjured)?
I am more curious in how he will react to the world of Dark Souls and Bloodborne (especially Bloodborne). He would probably let the Ripper out to save his sanity, then return after all the bosses are butchered.

Everything that lives is designed to end.Y'all making me mad. No one is out here giving love to Metal Gear on its thirtieth birthday.
I just finished the first one for the MSX. It's hard as nails, but I like it. Started the second today - loving it, head and shoulders above the first.
Not sure what to say
Happy birthday, you bipedal, nuclear missile platform. May you rot in Alaska forever.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!May you be used by a aging clone to fight his brainwashed arch-rival in a awesome mech fight
May you terrify the American people with your mass-produced younger siblings in an all-out battle above New York against a single man with a rocket launcher.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!May you be faced with Cyborgs with swords
May your successors be tossed into the air and sliced into bits by their own massive blade appendages.
Still though... surprising that Konami is barely doing anything with the franchise's 30th anniversary. Not even a special video uploaded to Youtube or anything.

Happy Birthday Metal Gear, may the ultimate weapon continue to always be trounced by one man on foot with a shoulder-braced missile launcher.
Also not at all surprised that Konami isn't doing anything today, they've shown they don't respect their creators or their franchises and I doubt the Pachinko market cares about anniversaries.
Happy birthday, Metal Gear. May anything be a weapon to surpass Metal Gear.

Hm... It's a pretty close battle.
