I wonder if someday someone is going to look at Final Fantasy XIII and go all "Man, these are some retro graphics."
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.Inevitably. We thought FFVIII's ballroom scene running in realtime on PS 2 was pretty impressive, remember?
And I'm gonna dig someone's eyeballs out with a rusty spoon if we don't get that PS 3 update of FFVII we were so obliquely promised. Hell, I'd be happy with a DS port, just as long as somebody finally has an excuse to go back over that script and fix the hell out of it.
In the event of a firestorm, the salad bar will remain open. For computer monitors, 1080p is already too damn small. I run at 1920x1200 (Macbook Pro, either on its native screen or external monitor) and that's a bit better, but any screen bigger than the one I have would need greater resolution.
I do share the frustration at graphics hardware advances mostly giving the same quality at ever-higher resolution rather than actual better lighting etc., though.
A brighter future for a darker age.I never really notice a quality difference on fullscreen with 720p or higher.

Plus, imagine if we took that tech and put it on military drones and whatnot.

"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelI'm sure there's some difference that I might be able to see if I saw the things side by side. As it is I can't think of a difference I have consciously noted or particularly care about...Same with blue ray...I'd only want one for when DV Ds get phased out of existence...

Genkidama for Japan, even if you don't have money, you can help![1]Then turn on antialiasing. There's not really any reason to makes file size jump orders of magnitude for the laughably small visual effect you'd get from this.
Security cameras are hindered far more by suspects not looking at the camera than resolution issues. The increase in file size would do more harm than good — you would have far better gain for the added storage space by just placing more low-res cameras.

I once had a class that relied on an SD projector for everything. I barely noticed the pixels, even though I was in the front row (and if you look for them, they're not hard to spot). Then one day, we had a slide projector set up for 35mm projection. I was floored by how much the quality improved.

I kind of went for the same sort of approach though.
Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone.
