...nice!
This was a relatively large part of my childhood!
One of my few regrets about being born female is the inability to grow a handlebar mustache. -LandstanderThis will certainly be interesting. I hope they keep the classic Norn voices, or at least use a speech synthesizer that sounds reasonably like it.
"Doh rah bee! Mah rah soh!"
...I always turned off the voices, 'cuz they annoyed me.

I hope someone remakes Little Computer People.
Jonah FalconOn the actual game side of this, I really do hope they do the genetics justice. What remains of Creatures Labs does seem to be in on this, but I hope it doesn't turn out like the ill-fated Playstation release.
The fact that it's going to be free is promising, though, so long as it's not allegedly free. Docking Station was really awesome for that. And I hope they make the modding tools nice and easy to obtain, too.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. There's room for that without it messing with the Creatures dynamic, you know. C3/DS featured new Norn breeds for sale, IIRC, and I can imagine a brisk trade in CO Bs/Agents/whatever they're called now...
There's a difference between Revenue-Enhancing Devices and Allegedly Free Game, though. Those new breeds were just RE Ds; sure, they were cool, but they weren't essential, and you could pimp out DS with plenty of Game Mods (like I did). Heck, there was even the officially endorsed C1-to-DS mod, which gave you all the breeds and all the original items from C1 totally free. That's like the only mod I even need to run on most of the worlds.
No, Allegedly Free would be something like forcing you to pay for premium mode to use any breeds beside the basic ones at all (even Docking Station came with multiple free breeds, plus some official "egg packs" that gave you all the genes of the pay-breeds without the graphics), or to install game mods.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaAh. So yeah, let's hope this is a genuinely free game that makes use of Revenue-Enhancing Devices rather than an Allegedly Free Game.

Hmm... looks like it's still "to be released", but there's work going on, including a live session on June 27th on Twitch.tv.
Creatures is BACK.
