A bomb threat for London has been issued by Irish dissidents in the first coded warning outside Northern Ireland in 10 years, officials say.

Seems like this is being taken a lot more seriously due to the coded warning.

I can just picture the look on my Mom's face when she sees this on one of those Underground news sheets. "Again? I knew they were being too quiet."

i. hear. a. sound.

Well the Queen is due to visit Ireland soon so there was a chance that there would be a bit more 'noise' as it were.

I take it some people don't trust Gerry Adams.

Or, possibly more conspiratorial, Ian Paisley likes the violence and recognizes that his side is eventually going to lose if peace continues.

Bomb on bus made safe in Ireland security alert

It's gone further. I'd say they're Back.

Have you not been paying attention, then? They never went away. There's been a couple of bombs discovered, and a policeman murdered, already this year.

We gave Ireland 12 points at Eurovision. Ungrateful bastards.

Yeah they've never been away, just less in the public eye.
Also glad that bomb has been defused, although the queen will be in Ireland for quite a few days.

[up] Beg pardon; just want to point out that the opinions and actions of the "dissident Republicans" in no way represent the Irish people, most of whom take a conciliatory and friendly stance towards Britain nowadays. The RIRA and their ilk are nothing but criminals now.

Oh no, I'm not trying to imply that they speak for all of Ireland, just that well with the Queen visiting the dissidents seem to be more visible. (If it was about the strikethrough part that bit wasn't serious.)

[up] Ah, very good then, my apologies. It's true, they do seem more active lately. However, with €30m being invested in the Queen's safety I reckon she should be safe enough, please God.

-*shrug* stupid criminals with delusions of adequacy, same as usual. There is no longer the popular momentum for them to truly get anything they want so they've decided to just blow shit up and pretend they are fighting for a cause.

[up] Agreed. These men are largely uneducated criminals who make their money from drug dealing. The last time the IRA had the support of the majority in Ireland was prior to 1921, and that was an entirely different incarnation; led by socialist nationalists. They're a footnote to history at this point.

Agreed, and even the modicum of support they DID have has now been whittled away to "four men and a pub" levels of villany. Its like a sideshow with bombs now trying to make itself relevent.
