Related to this.

Now in a typical Hollywood-style invasion by a "freedom hating" enemy (usually some form of Communism), we get the walls of buildings plastered with propaganda posters tell the populace what to do to be a law abiding citizen and with it we get the resistance fighters placing graffiti telling people to not give up hope or have some insulting message to the invader. We also get buildings draped with the invader's flags.

But I as I have stated before that "dictatorship" as previously mentioned has barbarism is a major aspect of how to conduct war. They look at any attempt to convince the local population as being a waste of resources compared to simply caving in the skulls of the most unruly locals right in front their eyes.

Why waste time making posters that will just get tagged by spray painted graffiti? Why drape flags when they could be torn down and burned? Why do spruce up the place when one is suppose to be a modern barbarian?

So what they do instead is this...

  • Their national symbols are crudely carved into the exteriors of skyscrapers via lasers or explosives.
  • Houses of worship are removed of all gold and silver objects and its interior converted into a more savage tribal state more suited to their own religions.
  • Huge amounts of graffiti written by various soldiers spray painted on to the government buildings of the enemy.
    • (From suggestions) Dead bodies of enemy officials hung from the ceiling.
  • Flags and statues of the enemy are repurposed to become fabric or armor.
    • (From suggestions) Replace the heads of decapitated statues with heads of enemy leaders.
  • Suburbs are turned into an encampment dotted with crude huts made from the rubble of destroyed houses.

You get the idea. Any suggestions to the list of vandalisms?

Hoist a skull on the front of a few buildings.

Always looks nice and fearful.

Ah, where would the skull come from. Someone has to gather the materials for it and assemble it.

As blueharp mentioned, skulls. Lots and lots of skulls. Actual human skulls. Piles of skulls if they have enough, otherwise just skulls (or rotting heads) on pikes, decorating fountains and statues, et cetera.
