Perhaps a couple images of what he did to kobolds?
Other than that he merely kills things - not much Obviously Evil.

Agree that the picture would be better with a caption few panels for context.
Edited for brain fart.

Fight smart, not fair. Here's the source strip...the bottom three panels could work, but it'd take some fancy editing to work around the speech balloons.
I think it could be pulled off with the last two. This way we can see Belkar praising Roy for a "cruel punishment", but if we show the last three then it would be shown that the punishment wasn't really all that cruel, even if Belkar thinks it is.
@ Sal Fish Tin: Take into account that we're comparing forcing them to have some "family time" with slavery or killing them. The point is, Belkar thinks it's a cruel punishment, but even if this punishment is fitting it's without doubt far less cruel/evil than making them slaves. Someone who hasn't seen the whole scene won't get why leaving them tied is a fitting punishment, that's why I think it's better to put just the two last panels: it's implied that it's something evil what Roy just did, and that is what this trope is about. If someone wants to know the whole story s/he can go to the comic and read it, but this is just picking an image that explains the trope, and three panels as suggested above would be a problem for the reasons I just explained.

There are no heroes left in Man.But Belkar thinks it's more evil than killing them or making them servants.
Bump.
First key to interpreting a work: Things mean things.I think it would work with extra panels to show why the approval fills with shame. Replacing it is unnecessary, IMHO...
I am now known as Flyboy. That's not the trope, though...
Edit: That's Stop Helping Me, not Your Approval Fills Me with Shame...

I am now known as Flyboy.I think he meant the part where Luke realizes he's doing something wrong because the Emperor approves of it.
First key to interpreting a work: Things mean things.Well, I mean, even then, it doesn't really convey the trope. The Emperor says something, and then Luke goes "oh, I shouldn't do that." The trope would be, Luke does something, the Emperor says it's good, and Luke says that the fact that they agree is terrible...

I am now known as Flyboy.I agree, it's not the trope. And, even if it is the trope, it's still not an alternative. It does a worse job of describing YAFMWS than our Order Of The Stick picture.
Things of mine keep getting deleted. I curse too much. How's this?
In my opinion it would be better without the first image. I explained before why.
There are no heroes left in Man.Hmmmm...I don't think the first panel hurts anything, but if the majority wants it gone, that won't be a problem.
Perhaps you could post the other version as well, and then let people decide?
It'd have to be tonight before I'd have a chance to edit it.
Bump...do I take off the first panel or not?
The problem with that is the first two panels make it look like Belkar is twisting a good act to be evil, which we should have if we don't already, more than this trope.
But then again, it would be hard to establish this trope without first showing the morality of the characters, and that is what all three panels do better than just two of them.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. This is it without the top panel. What do people think? And sorry to Willbyr if you still wanted to do this - you seemed to have given up.

It's easily seen that Belkar is evil with the last two panels. He's happy with what he considers a "sick, twisted, cruel and unusual punishment". From that you can assume Roy, the one who is filled with shame from Belkar's approval, is a good guy, even if you haven't read the comic.
Good job. This is a good image in my opinion. We can see Belkar praising Roy for a (supposedly) sick, twisted and cruel punishment, then Roy feeling bad for doing something that Belkar would approve.
There are no heroes left in Man.No problem, been working on other stuff. If everyone's happy with the 2-panel version, then we can run with it.
A thumbs up in passing. Knock it out of the park.
Three for approval, right? If no-one has any objections, I'll put it up tomorrow.
I think the current picture could be fine if we combined it with a collage of Belkar doing evil things. But right now, it doesn't work.
