I mean sure MKX brought in kids but they also kept the veterans too.
While Cassie was the hero of the game they didn't kill off Johnny & Sonya to prop up her development.
Also helped that the kids played differently from their parents. Jacquie & Takeda were not exact copycats of Jax & Kenshi after all.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Yup.
I admit, I got no real horse in this race. I'm very curious as to what they'll do though. Is the V timeline gonna burn to ashes, or are they gonna try to salvage it somehow.
One Strip! One Strip!x3 - Exactly. Earthrealm’s Teen Titans fought alongside the old favorites, and most of Cassie’s arc was dealing with her parents, not living up to a specter.
They beat the story mode, and it timeskips forward to post SC 5, and...
Patroklos and Pyrrha are teased as the main antagonists for SC 7
I do writing, feel free to check out my stories here! https://numbugwritingblog.tumblr.com/post/686233243868102656/numbugs-shared-heroic-uniI hope that this is a reboot along the same lines as MK 9, but not as severe. Character events change, maybe characters die or are taken out of commission earlier than they originally were, and the series gets a fresh future as a result.
There's a bit of a gap between SCIV and V anyway, it'll most likely be 10+ years before we get anywhere close to the characters of V. ZWEI could show up sooner, maybe Groh is a part of his story, and Viola might be able to appear as an ageless witch-type character - but the character replacements and Sophitia's children? It'll be years before we see them again, if they come back at all. At least that's what I think - I could easily be wrong.
Speaking of the gap between IV and V, though - my initial idea was that the series would make games that take place within that time-gap. It continues the series' story as we know it without starting all over again, it can allow for the V characters to get a more natural introduction and showcase an actual personality instead of being replacements and it can still retcon V in ways that make it moderately more tolerable in retrospect. I did like MK 9 and how it approached things, even if the Legacy Character angle is one of my least favorite tropes in anything ever, and I'm open to the same principle being present in SCVI - but I thought there was some wiggle room in-between IV and V to set a game or two, and it's a bit of a bummer to see that opportunity slip away.
I've feeling very cautious about SCVI. It's not for anything I've seen in-game - everything previewed so far has looked fantastic - but rather a caution of my own making. Back when V was announced I overhyped myself and got too excited, which only led to disappointment when it released. I'm trying to avoid getting burned again.
That being said, if they've really upped the ante for CAS (especially with faces)...

"Can't make an omelette without breaking some children." -Bur@ Emperordaein
If anything, they're most likely to just undo Sophita's death. Which they were already working towards in the Legend of Project Soul artbook.
No, that's not what New Legends of Project Soul said. It's the Project Soul site that altered Sophitia's fate.
Except that the part of her death was only included in Soul Calibur V
My bad. I refer to events in the canon to the corresponding game. In this case, I saw Sophitia's demise in SCIV, even if New Legends of Project Soul pertains to SCV.
and she couldn't do the operation alone. Also, no way she wouldn't have fought her sister along the events at the tower.
Nope, Sophitia removed that shard alone. As to what happened to Cassandra before she found herself in Astral Chaos, refer to this.
You didn't need to tell me the whole resume of Sophitia's story. I really studied the franchise.
My humblest apologies for that. Wanted to make sure everyone else remembered.

No problem. There are also times where I can be quite rude without noticing, now that I see that last quote.
I never had access to the artbook, only to the information on what happened to characters between IV and V. Also, the images are too small, I can't read the text. Do you have a higher resolution?
EDIT: I think I missed something, Daishi confirmed a second Story Mode along with the first?

Growing up, it's like a civil war, don't turn away, it's something you can't ignore...God, some people give way too much credit to Nether Realm's when it comes to handling their stories.
Still holding out for Hwang.
Well you can't argue with success as they say.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Actually I can just nothing would happen & it's moot anyways.
So ya could but it won't earn any results essentially. .

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."What's there to say?
MK X should have focus more on the Nether Realm War & Injustice should've focus more on Superman's fall from grace.
And the games have been out for years so its just wasted breathes.
Wait a minute this shit has been out for years already, who gives a crap now?

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Kinda the reason why I said it was moot to begin with.
You did bring it up though.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Fair enough, to get back on topic
I personally believe it's time to focus on the swords again. Soul Calibur & Soul Edge are sentient so it would be nice to understand from their perspective. Are they really just weapons or is there more to it? Granted, SC 5 kinda already answer that & it's probably not worth dwelling on if the writers aren't up to the task.
If anything, Okubo doesn't seem to be very open in hating Pat much like Ed Boon and Hsu Hao. Remember, that guy is REALLY open on how he disliked Hsu Hao. And he turned MKX into a fest of 'kill off characters I and the fans don't like'.
It's only possible when the hate is on Ed Boon level. But I don't think the SC creators, any of them, ever reach that kind of level.
So I doubt we'll be seeing a blatant slaughter on Patroklos for fanservice here. Retconning him out of existence seems to be enough for Okubo...

I remember having asked about a confirmation on a second Story Mode.
Growing up, it's like a civil war, don't turn away, it's something you can't ignore...Hmmm, this is what's gotten from the Famitsu scans by my friend's translation
- Soul Chronicle has scenarios for each & every character
- May also have battles depending on scene
- Will cover 1583-1590; Stories starting from 1586 will be delved deeper
- There's another major single-player mode that they can't divulge yet
Interesting....that time period is everything between 1 and 4. Remember SCV starts in 1607, a 17 year time skip. I thought we would have had some in between info but hmm.
Well the old heroes needed a bunch of patches in their stories anyway that were NOT designated to Artbook only. Thats just unsatisfying no matter how you look at it.
Also another single player mode? My heart screams "chronicles of the Sword 2" but Im not willing to get my hopes that high just yet.
2-4 take place in 1591.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI'm pretty sure it's been confirmed earlier in this very forum that it takes place over the timeframe of SC 1 & 2 specifically.
Admittedly they could easily squeeze in some more scenes for post-2 considering the ridiculously short time frame between 2 3 and 4.

compromise: we make the likable characters just as hatable with the new story mode by showing them all their flaws without romanticzing them
Example: Seigfrie'd rampage before he turns into Nightmare to kill even more people.
