I never did figure out proper tactics in V. IV was easy to break—build an Order army focused around magical attacks, and you'll have zero attrition in the early fights, allowing you to overwhelm later foes with sheer numbers—but V guaranteed you'd lose some troops in any battle against an enemy hero. I barely made it past the above-mentioned part with the elves, and I failed completely against the Soulscar clan in the same mission chain. ("Barely took that one castle. Better build up my army before I attack any more—what do you mean there's a demon army incoming?")

That's Feo . . . He's a disgusting, mysoginistic, paedophilic asshat who moonlights as a shitty writer—Something Awful

The only time HoM&M V really made me rage was during the Wizard campaign(I think the 3rd one?) in Tribes of the East when the goal is to reach the earth dragon for the dwarfs, and you have to fight that one dwarf that was in the second expansion...Rolf or something like that? Most annoying fight ever. He has a huge army, all the runes, and unlimited uses of them. Every single turn, all of his troops will get double attack, double speed, 50% chance for attacks to miss them, or something equally annoying. Fuck that fight.

Granted, you win after you beat him, so its OK if you loose your entire army in the process(like I did), but still...
