I just played through the original Shantae game on an emulator and am playing through Monster Tale, and was surprised to find no topic comparing the two Metroidvania games, especially since Monster Tale and the Shantae sequel came out a few months apart on the D Si, and are both developed by indie develepors. The two games have so many similarities and a few distinct differences!
Anyways, which one do you prefer, Shantae/Shantae Risky's Revenge or Monster Tale? If you haven't played either, which one would you probably play first?
I prefer Shantae because the world and levels are better designed, and the art and character designs are more appealing. The core gameplay of Monster Tale is better, though it's because deeper, thanks to the additition of the pet raising sim, and there's more ways to take down an enemy or boss than in Shantae.
