    Original OP
(I saw Allan mention the lack of one so I thought I'd make one.)

Recent political stuff:

  • The vote to see if Britain should adopt Alternative Voting has failed.
  • Lib Dems lose lots of councils and councillors, whilst Labour make the majority of the gains in England.
  • The Scottish National Party do really well in the elections.

We're talking about a newspaper whose only reason to STOP backing fascists was that World War 2 made it politically inconvenient.

I didn't realise they were having McCarthy ghostwrite nowadays, as if Littlejohn wasn't bad enough.

The Scottish income tax changes have been revealed.

Basically, the bands are changing. This is C/P from the article.

Scottish Budget New Income Tax rates

21p

New intermediate tax rate from £24,001 to £44,273

19p Starter rate from £11,850 to £13,850

20p Basic rate from £13,851 to £24,000

41p Higher rate from £44,274 to £150,000

46p Additional rate from £150,000

Needless to say, the comments on the article are people horrified that the SNP are not only Nationalist but Socialist (yes, the implication is clear, though there's not much outright calling the SNP Nazis, they're peddling the usual "socialists are ruining the country" crap, and the same old tired line comparing Nicola Sturgeon to Jimmy Krankie (people still doing that can get in the fucking sea)

Wow, even knowing what the Heil is like, the stupidity on display still made my head hurt.

That particular headline appears to have backfired due to the sheer amount of 'yes' responses and parodies it has generated.

The express is not a legitimate source.

That was one cringeworthy headline.

And wasn't the Express the same garbage publication that had an article claiming Princess Diane's ghost approved of Brexit?

Yep, thus why it’s not a legitimate source.

Come to think of it, which British media are reliable? I've been browsing The Guardian for a while.

The Times and Telegraph are at least sane, if as biased as you'd expect. Guardian is also sane, though biased in the other direction and with some really strange opinion piece choices.

And everyone on any side seems to accuse the BBC of bias, so it has that going for it.

The Guardian, Telegraph, Times, BBC, the Spectator, Private Eye, Chanel 4 and Sky are at least factual (the independent used to be, but since going online only it’s become insanely click baity).

They all have biases though, particularly when it comes to media regulation, the EU or Corbyn.

Honestly you’re better off getting your news from panel shows.

I feel fortunate that so far the press in the USA is relatively reliable. Most of our newspapers and news networks are factual, if biased. Fox News being the exception of course. While you can be reasonably certain something reported on other networks like CNN or MSNBC happened, you can't expect the same from something reported on Fox News. Not surprising, since Fox News is owned by Rupert Murdoch.

The News Quiz, Have I Got News for You, Mock the Week, The Now Show, ect...

They’re comedy current affairs shows.

Have fun working out how much of the UK news industry is owned by Murdoch. And its varying levels of sanity.

Meanwhile, the Daily Express is owned by a porn baron.

This page has a good rundown, though sadly someone removed the fun bits at some point.

The Telegraph has decayed pretty hard over recent years due to a number of factors - Peter Oborne was the canary in the coal mine. It’s very much circling a Daily Mail-shaped drain.

What's precedent ever done for us?
