Of the actual pics that have been posted in the thread, I think the only ones we can safely consider are the girl playing with her Wii...everything else may be just a bit too racy.

[up][up]That one and the panty shot one are probably the best. The dildo one is pushing the NSFW line a bit.

And what the heck show are you taking these stills from?

Hm...I'd still like to try one that had the censor box with "BUY THE DVD" written on it, but I seem to fail at image editing.

Well there is a Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei ep that has a censor bubble saying "Censored for broadcast" however it's in Japanese and subtitles would lose the effect on the page. sad (I can try and get a screen if ya want.)

I edited one of the existing images. Not sure if I like it better than anything suggested thus far, but here:

Okay, the trope is not "you have to buy the DVD to get to the hot stuff". It's an incidental aspect, but the real point is that it couldn't be shown on TV, and thus is put on the video release instead.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.

Did you read the trope page? It says the opposite and it's not a very long page.

It is an incidental aspect, but I think very widespread. "Buy the DVD" Censor Bar is all right.

Fleshing this out is part of the reason I made the repair shop thread. "Removed censor for home releases" is pretty much the trope so a before/after would be preferred.

[up][up][up]The very first part is "Material that won't fly past censors on TV (not even with Getting Crap Past The Radar), so it's included on video releases, often in the DVD Bonus Content."

I don't see how that says the opposite of what I wrote, as it still makes it key that the stuff is left off for censoring reasons, not "buy the DVD" reasons.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.

Crowner.

Personal favs are the Wii Tennis and Dildos. If someone could stamp a TV and DVD (actually Bluray) on it we could use the caption "Wii Sports so sexy its censored." or point at the fact that the censored Dildos look worse than the uncensored ones.

The Buy the DVD is just not the trope.

I prefer the dildos for relative SFW-ness. Yes, I did actually just say that.

[up]I'm really not sure that dildos qualify as SFW in any context. It's a good illustration and I have no problem with it, but we might want to get a mod to weigh in on it first.

Okay, mod opinion and you're not going to like it, but I don't see how any image that adequately represents this article could be considered safe under our Family Friendly policy — that's kind of the whole point of the trope. I don't know if this counts as irony or not.

I may want someone else to weigh in, and if any of those images go up, the page will be put beneath the opt-in curtain, but really that's my gut feeling based on viewing those images that were posted in the thread.

Wait what? Even the Wii Sports one? Those are perfectly fine on TV with real Tennis and those are perfectly fine for kids to watch.

GD worked really hard to get them all to line up perfectly... Why do I even bother....

[up] I tend to agree; also, don't we have at least one other page with a blatant Panty Shot in the pic?
