As for the gameplay itself... eh, it just wasn't satisfying.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Touhou and most Japanese games with particularly saccharine art styles, not so much because of the art styles themselves, but because of tropes that annoy me that I associate with modern Japanese games that choose to use them.
God. of. War. Sure, I love hack and slash games and I really love Greek mythology... but the art style was a huge turn off for me. I understand that like Gears of War and other games that are extremely popular.... but games that are filled with manly graphics (I'm sad to say but, Duke Nukem is too much for me), ultra-realism (cough cough Madden... any racing/sports game) or just fills itself with gore (cough cough Mortal Kombat, any shooter game, yet zombie games are ok for me...) Just loses it's touch with me... That and the fact that was going to build a "Protect the Mythical Creatures" charity after seeing my friend play through that... those poor satyres...

DeerMad World gives me a headache too. Shame, because I otherwise found it very enjoyable.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaYears ago? Earthbound. It was all 'thanks' to that horrible ad campaign; never was a big fan of 'gross-out' humor, so I dismissed it as something crude, backwards and entirely not worth my time.
Eventually, of course, I wound up picking it up cheap at a used game store figuring that 'Eh, even if it's not any good, it's only a couple bucks...' ...And found out just how wrong my original perception was.
If you guys can't play Mad World, do yourselves a favor and play Anarchy Reigns when it comes out. It's basically the Spiritual Successor if not outright sequel, what with all the Mad World characters in it.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987Minus the black and white visuals, of course. Never was a fan of Sin City myself.
You know, i DID play it back when the sheer graphical power of the game impressed me, but i can't play Oblivion anymore because EVERYONE IS SO INSANELY UGLY. I mean JESUS. The "Golden plains and grey castles" aesthetic isn't exactly a winner either.
Bleye knows Sabers.Beat Hazard. The concept is interesting, but the sheer amount of flashy, glowy stuff happening on the screen made it almost impossible, not to mention incredibly headache-inducing, to keep track of just what was going on.
Seconding TERA. The actual mechanics look really good, but... with character designs like that, I'm afraid I could smell the musk of the other players from over the internet.
Also, Red Faction 3. I'd have gotten the same visual experience painting my TV screen orange.
That's exactly what I thought when I read this thread. It was a great game from what I played, but it gave me a headache and I could barely see what I was doing.
Nothing to see here. Move along.
