Blockade Runner: Minecraft. IN SPACE!

Blockade Runner is going to be a Sandbox space sim, like a combination of Minecraft and X3 or another Space Sim. It is being developed by an indie developer by the name of ZanMgt, located in Michigan.

Upcoming feature:

• Planets with atmosphere
• Fluid Dynamics (For fuel and water), using an in house engine called Liquid Cubed.
• Air pressure, also using the Liquid Cubed engine
• Gravity plating
• Equipment and tools such as space suits and mining lasers (Equpment has been confirmed, though specifics have not. I merely speculate on this point.)
• Thrusters, attachable to any object (including asteroids.)
• real gravity, caused by sufficiently large mass.
• space weapons such as torpedoes
• Space ship control

Currently in place:

• Asteroids
• Full 3d movement, including pitch, yaw, roll, and thrust.
• Mass, which will cause gravity.
  • Each block connected to another block will cause a center of mass, and removing a significantly large amount of blocks will drastically move the center.

Development:
Builds will be released weekly or at least monthly. Current build is R1W3.

Development is looking to be in 6-month cycles, each major release upgrading the R label.

This game has promise if he can make all that happen it will go well.

They. Zan-Mgt is a team of 6 siblings working together.

looks interesting, will definitely pick it up if all those promises come true.

I don't think my laptop even has a pixel shader. Anyone know if it's a requirement at all?

I don't like it too much. Are there multiplayer servers or something?

As of right now, there is no multiplayer. there isn't much of anything, really, since its only a grand total of 3.5 weeks old. I encourage you to come back in a few months. they plan to have release 2 in about 5 months 1 week.

Oh, so that's why I didn't like it. Ok. -wanders off somewhere else.-

I couldn't even get it to launch but I can wait to see if it becomes playable for me in the future.

None which is the kicker. Just program crash message.

Make sure you've downloaded and installed the XNA Framework 4.0 and .NET 4.0.

Have both.

Ok now I know why. It now uses shader 3.0 That was really stupid move. Means fewer people can play the game now.

They're still working on that, unfortunately...

New video is up, demonstrating the Center-of-Mass system.

Interesting bit I dropped a post on their Face book commenting on that. I got comment pack post change that they agreed they lost too many potential players and reverted XNA back a version.

So including me a bunch of others must have commented on it.

Can't wait for Thrusters to finally be implemented next week (hopefully). Bigger boats in Minecraft ain't got nothin' on spaceships.

Can't wait for a new computer, either, though that's much more difficult.

Seeing that video (late, I know), I see the comment below where they need a commentary on what's going on, and... wow.

Are there really that many people who don't know what a center of mass is?

Week 7 gave us thrusters, and Week 9 (hopefully tomorrow) will feature a big backend and UI overhaul. Also, forums!

hmm.. will try out when i next switch over to windows.

also i thought 3.0 shaders came standard with any computer with a graphics card from the past 6 years.
