I tried to watch everything that was airing, I know, Bad Idea. Plus I don't like dropping shows so I just keep watching until they finish. In the end, I only started watching 20 becuase watching more would had been impossible for me.

^I tried for 22. The only thing I didn't try to watch was Azazel-san, and a bunch of the shows with earlier seasons that I hadn't watched yet.

20? I couldn't even keep up with 14. (although I did watch a few older series)

Someone who watched the first episodes of everything should update the Summer 2011 Anime list, some of the descriptions are very obscure pre-release guesses about the content.

Thus far it seems to have few really strong shows (Penguindrum is pretty much it, thus far) but a fair lineup of "not entirely bad" ones.

Nah this is a pretty good season (Yuru Yuri being the best so far), I am watching more shows now than last season by far.

Is anyone subbing Manyuu Hikenchou? I wanna laugh at it...

Apparently Sub Desu is supposed to, but nothing's materialized yet.

[edit] It's an average season. I'm watching slightly less many shows than the last two seasons, but that's also because I won't be giving a chance to a couple of shows (such as Yuru Yuri) in genres where I'm feeling a bit burned out.

Dammit. I think I'm becoming a cynic. None of these shows appeal to me. Hell not a single one from 2011 has appealed to me.

I'm tempted to make a thread about it, asking for help, but I fear people will think its a complaint thread. I'm worried I'm just not liking anime any more because this entire 2011 season has been overwhelming meh to me.

I dont know what to do.

Have you actually tried them, or just judged off of poorly written summaries?

A little of both.

I've tried Madoka, Penguin, Sacred Seven, and Kore Wa Zombie. Didn't like Madoka, Penguin confused me and might not be up my alley, I SHOULD be liking Sacred Seven but its not hooking me, and I dropped Zombie halfway through.

The rest that I've looked at dont appeal to me at all. IS is everything I stand against, for example. All the fanservice shows like Qwasar and Freezing boil my blood. I cant stand harem or moe at all also.

The only one I need to check out is Tiger & Bunny and I'm shuffling my feet a little.

I'm a big mecha fan, and this has been a hard year.

There's a bunch of mecha shows lined up for fall, if it helps. And I suppose you could give Deadman Wonderland a try, since you seem to be looking for action

Sorry, got the name wrong. Um...hold on.

FREEZING. Not Fractale, sorry.

[up] I'll take a peek but I'm not too big into Shonen either, not just action.

To get an idea of what I like. Heres the last 3 shows I watched and loved every minute of.

Votoms, Turn A Gundam, Daiguard

Also what Mecha? Gundam AGE is the only one I can think of and its not looking too hot for me.

[up] Yeah. What?

[up][up][up] There's actually been quite a few non-fanservicey-shows. Admittedly a lot of them are slice-of-life/drama type stuff.

Honestly 2010-2011 did a lot to rekindle my love for the medium. Both Star Driver and Hanasaku Iroha have been great fun.

Well, you can always binge on already finished series, I'm sure there's at least a few good mecha shows you haven't seen yet.

[up] Thats pretty much what I'm doing. But the fact that I've gone an entire year so far not enjoying a single show worries me.

2010 had a few alright ones, but none that stood out for me. I'm just wondering if I'm becoming cynical, or losing my interest in anime, or am listening to negative people constantly.

Eh, industries have trends, it just happens that the current trends don't appeal to you, it might pass.

Go watch Rah Xephon and Legend Of The Galactic Heroes (I assume you have already watched Giant Robo), by the time you finish there might be some shows that interest you around.

Thanks. I know what shows I want to watch though. smile This was more or less me being worried about not enjoying modern anime, not "I cant find anythign to watch!"

Yeah, I've been having the same problem with this year's stuff. Part of it is probably just me being lazy, but overall I really haven't been feeling any of the shows these past few seasons.

Of course, I'm lucky, because I have watched very little classic mecha, so it occurred to me to start - I watched the Mobile Suit Gundam compilation movies and now I'm halfway through Zeta Gundam. Also for some reason I decided to start watching Chobits and Great Teacher Onizuka, which are both about the farthest thing from mecha you can get. GTO is hilarious and heartwarming, but I'm not exactly sure why I'm watching Chobits.
