I actually find it doubly-repulsive as a consequence of overlapping trypophobia with botanophobia. It doesn't need to be coming out of skin to be horrific.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Mind if I ask what sort of botanophobia this was—is it in general, or restricted to certain species, e.g. lotus seed heads? Cause if such a thing exists, it might be what's actually affecting others, maybe as an alternative to "blanket" trypophobia, and maybe that might clear up the difference for some.
I want to go to there. It's not hard to tell which is which, as the two only intersect with certain plants.
If vines, strangely-colored buds, stymens, and other weird plant shit freaks you out, you're probably botanophobic. For me, I flip the f*ck out if a plant touches me with a vine or stalk or anything that isn't a petal or a leaf, and there are some plants I refuse to even go near, like this ungodly abomination against all that is right and good◊ or anything that can be classified as a fungus. I suspect Little Shop of Horrors is responsible for this phobia, as my dad loved that movie when I was a toddler.
If anthills, beehives, and other non-plant related hole clusters freak you out, you're probably trypophobic.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Oh, no definitely no to all of those. I love carnivorous plants, the non-stinky fungi, and bees, and honeycombs look pretty and are tasty to eat too.
Ants I don't like much cause they're a nuisance in many ways to me. But their nests are okay.
Termites are pretty awesome though, so cute-looking.

Eyes Do Not Belong There is a common horror trope, in fact!
Heh, I am pretty sure myself that I got phagophobia (fear of being eaten alive, swallowed, chewed up, etc.) from seeing to much Jurassic Park/predator voraciously eats humans movies. While I am fascinated by pitcher plants and venus flytraps I do find the idea of being eaten by one very horrifying (to the point I have had nightmares about it). I can't watch Little Shop of Horrors due to that.

Formerly known as Bleddyn And I am feeling like a ghost Resident Perky GothI bet the Dance of Dragons episode of Game of Thrones was awful for you. Torn limb from limb, cooked alive, devoured.

I agree, but I think I only find it terrifying because of all the photoshopped pictures superimposing lotus seed heads on human skin. Looks like freaking parasitic larva burrowed into your skin, and there's no possible way that parasites sticking out of your skin can be non-repulsive.
