I haven't read them. But since you mentioned console sales in particular, I'll mention that I've read elsewhere that a drop in console sales should be expected, because after a certain amount of time everyone who wants a given console already has it. So I wouldn't be too alarmed by this.

Anyway, I have a question for you. What is it that you want to do? Prevent these games from being made? Force people to buy new games at full price? I'm not sure what you're getting at here.

No. It's not less people buying the consoles that is the problem. It is the fact that people are not using them. They buy them, then just leave them sitting there, not buying games or anything, in favour of smartphones.

Okay? Unfortunately, as with every luxury industry they have to deal with the fact that some people just don't want their products; some buy a console and then don't buy games for it, plenty others just don't buy consoles at all because they're not gamers.

Just what is it you want done about it?

I assume they want to find a way to convince people to play their games.

Yah, that'd be great.

I have no idea what to do about it. I'm not a marketing genius, I'm just a seventeen-year-old kid.

I'm presenting the problem to you.

That is all.

[up][up]That creates an infinite loop =) They need better games to have people buy their games, but people are disillusioned in games and won't buy them for too much, but good games need good budgets (or so the big name publishers think) and they can't be sold at a profit and thus aren't made and so people continue being disillusioned.

Indie games offer a way out of this with their generally lower prices, because the market will not survive in its current state on hardcore gamers alone and addicts are useless because they're usually loyal to one or two brand names one of which may or may not be an MMORPG and therefore generating a rather... specific... revenue stream.

Videogames do not make you a worse person... Than you already are.
