I'm assuming Discredited Trope means Discredited Trope Among A Certain Segment Of Anime Fans, since the description as a whole is full of the typical "we're assuming this pretty much only happens in anime and manga" language.
Jet-a-Reeno!Discredited? Not really. Used far less now than it once was as people realize how improbable this is, yes it's rarely played completely straight though even when it is used.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!1) changed "boxer" to "fist fighter" so that it's broader than just boxers using it allowing any instance.
2) removed anime specific mentions
3) trimmed out second paragraph, could probably use some filling out otherwise, but I can't think of anything to add.
4) modified first Anime example to remove both Most Triumphant Example vibe and reference to the page image.
Have a nice day :)
Fight smart, not fair.Looks good, though maybe there should be a clarification as to whether the trope is solely about "left-hook vs. right-hook" punching and not "left-hook vs. left-hook" possibilities, which are actually a bit more likely (the arms won't tend to block each other in the latter, compared to the former.)
Jet-a-Reeno!If you know fist-fighting techniques well enough to explain it clearly and succinctly, go ahead and add it. I'm locking this thread.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.
Because I'm not actually seeing that many parodies and subversions in the examples, but I am seeing examples that are played straight in modern works.
