I just a kick out of any interaction between Karako and Shiro, since I've been on a PSG kick recently.

Welp, I just binged on the manga up to chapter 51. And now I just wish that the author didn't have to be on hiatus, because it was really getting good.

Found out that forum members on Adult Swim's website and Twitter followers are hosting Operation Woodpecker, a fan movement to bring on a season two (now that would be awesome.) Here's what they had to say:

"Deadman Wonderland is a great anime that was sadly cut short. Why? Poor reception in Japan is what's to blame. How poor? Well, if you must know, Deadman wonderland sold less than 1000 copies in 2011. Yes, less than a thousand! It was a catastrophic failure back in Japan!

If you are wondering why Deadman Wonderland has all asterisks next to it, that is because the sales were too small to rank (less than 1000). Note that this is for combined sales of both DVD and BD formats, which is just sad.

So what can we do to get a second season? Simple - buy the DV Ds for the show.

Each purchase is like a little nudge to the creators - "hey, make more Deadman Wonderland episodes." Show the creators through sheer sales that they need to continue Deadman Wonderland. If you want to see Deadman Wonderland live on, do your part and buy the DV Ds.

Release date is set for October 9th, 2012."

No. The anime is cut short because they only planned on making 12 episodes, and then make more if it sold well. It sold horribly, so they aren't going to make more.
