Oh, hey! I was in that!
(I'm curious, personally.)
off the shitsGo ahead. Personally would like to hear it a lot.
Anyway, a few things I wanted to address... (I was waiting on another thing to include but just learned it's been delayed a bit, so...)
Love - and gender identity - aren't actually just for the living, Sal.
So yeah, as revealed in Pippi and I's bad-pun-infested spagpost last night, I've decided that Yveltal/Yvonne's a specific form of genderfluid rather than fully mentally feminine, and goes by Yvan when male. After she pranked RP!Mezzo by taking the form of Sephiroth I showed it to Pippi for the lulz then noted I was toying with the idea it was partially due to that rather than than just plain ol' shapeshifter dickery, and after talking over it a bit we decided it made sense (she's already my most crazy experimental LGBT+ character anyway, for one) and decided that she's specifically venufluid/femmefluid, which is essentially "genderfluid but leans heavily female." In light of that, regarding pronouns and such... When he's male and going by Yvan during RP shenanigans refer to him as such when talking about those at least, but due to the heavy female leanings... meta-wise outside of that context you can still refer to her as Yvonne and with female pronouns as much as you want.
Though... I'd obviously appreciate advice on this aside from just Pippi, so if any of you who are knowledgeable on the subject have any throw it by me.
'There is no asteroid impact! There's never been any asteroid impact! ASTEROID IMPACTS ARE JUST A MYTH!'
OK, so part of the reason Umbra, Lina, and Ammy haven't shown up much in-RP lately is because I have no clue how they'd be unaware of the impending apocalypse, and for various reasons I'd rather they not get involved in the DE. Arika and Nico are currently involved in HTYD, which provides a convenient excuse for them (at least for now) but the first three are still an issue.
Naturally, I'd prefer a silly explanation. :P However, If push comes to shove I'll go for a serious one, and I very much would appreciate suggestions from any of you guys.
Speaking of the DE...
Waterfab vs. the World
A couple people have expressed very strongly-felt concerns about feeling "locked out" of having any major impact in the Delta Episode's plot. As has been expressed, the Delta Episode is a plot based on one that originally focused on one fucking person, and adapting it to accommodate a much larger number of people is an extremely difficult task, and one I attempted to ease the best I could designing the outline. Regardless, I've been talking with the other major players on amending the problem further, and me and Bitters mutually came up with something for one thing in particular that was already part of the plot and thus wouldn't slow it down further and jeopardise certain other things: the Wallace battle at Sky Pillar.
Yep, if you're involved in the Delta Episode but don't feel you're playing as much of a role as you'd want, we're taking volunteers for people to battle Wallace at that point. Anyone involved in the Delta Episode that doesn't already have a big role of some sort is free to volunteer. So go ahead.

Contact Me!Adding a suggestion onto the DE section of Umbra's D!Post: Perhaps someone else would like to write for Wallace as well, to open it up to two people instead of just one?
Ooh, good one. Waiting on responses for that plus everything else, then.
Contact Me!Well the big twist was largely motivated by why would the player not want to go back home? The answer, what if they had nothing left.
The memories of flashes and pain would eventually reveal that the players were all fighting against a Mad Scientist trying to achieve ultimate power ala Cyrus. Only to achieve a Heroic Sacrifice to stop him.
The finale would have him try once more only for the players to fight against him again.
Yev
Don't worry, I won't comment
Meteoric ignorance
No clues, good luck
DE
Personally I wasn't annoyed about being "Locked out" as much as I was annoyed by the perception that I was Locked In to basically 3 options for my chars: "Worry about world destruction, but don't do anything because meta-hands are tied", "Know about it, but completely ignore it because lol, like the rest of the J-team would let that happen" or "post nothing until DE is finished"
Over that, I guess. No need to try working me into the plot.
We actually had some shenanigans along those lines in the earlier days involving Cyrus himself that later also tied into something kinda PMD-y; it's a bit complicated to give deets here but I'll PM them to you if you want. :P
Ah, at DE stuff, but 'k.
And still waiting on others for everything - except the second one. I found a silly solution to it that also ties into something else I'm planning. >:3 The solution part may very well be revealed tonight or tomorrow.

Contact Me!Yes send me details please.
-has like fifty pages to catch up on again-
Lol, maybe Umbra, Ammy, and Lina all got their phones stolen. At once.
off the shitsThat's actually exactly what I have planned; question is who and why.
Contact Me!By conspiracy theorist Zigzagoons, who want to build a fallout shelter out of [Nokia] phones.
off the shitsThe birbs did it.
The birbs move in mysterious ways.
Robin: ...Does it have anything to do with their ability to survive asteroid impacts?
(OK, now I need sleep.)
Contact Me!Opening up the DE
At some point the Governments of the world are going to have to at least give a "There a huge asteroid heading for the planet" speech. I mean with a six mile in diameter hunk of space rock heading towards us, I think it's a little too much to hope that every single space enthusiast will miss a giant space rock heading towards the planet. With that said, might I recommend that the J-Team help by stepping up to keep the peace? I mean once the news drops, there will be panic. But as several episode of the anime, the manga, and even the games show that the Gym Leaders and Champions act in a "homeland security" capacity.
So my suggestion is that the members of the J-Team are asked to assist the Gym Leaders in keeping people from causing riots and such.
My suggestion for this is similar to the the way the "scavenger hunt" was handled. Everyone writes there own adventures for a bit or gets some of us in the DE who are not "active" at the time to RP opponents.
Obviously, this means "No Human vs Human fights. Period." and the worst that a human should be hit with is a False Swipe that causes their pants to fall to their ankles. After all, the people that are causing a stir aren't evil team members - and the J-team would be there to prevent injuries, not cause them.
I explicitly designed the DE setup and situation to avoid widespread panic in order to avoid derailing plans of people who don't want to be involved or have their characters have any knowledge of the disaster, and your proposal would throw a huge fucking wrench in that. Plus, A. The situation was pretty much secret to the general populace in the original game, IIRC, and B. the DE AS IS has been complex and stressful to handle enough already and I worry this will just make it worse.
So, I admittedly feel I should shoot this idea down right out.

Contact Me!I feel it is unrealistic to think that absolutely no one would notice the giant space rock.
And preventing the plot from opening up whatsoever just brings us back to square one of the problem you brought up.
My only other thought that could be used amounted to "Suddenly, there were Glitches!", and that is Bitter's plot.

Okay, gonna summarize a few key points here.
Keys suggestion is primarily focused on the fact that life does continue and there are reactions to events where the narrative isn't focused. I don't see this as a problem. The problem lies in that some people find the idea of widespread panic... unappealing. Despite the fact it would be not only realistic, but unavoidable.
Also, while the DE is complex as is, perhaps this part of it, involving others not actively involved in the main plot, needn't conflict with the everything running in the main plot. It can be handled in smaller groups or on each writer's own, who want to do so on their own. This is not saying "this is what people are going to be doing", but rather opens up an avenue for people to do things who otherwise are sitting around doing nothing, it wouldn't be required participation.
We could tone it down a bit, the gym leaders and other League officials requesting help to quell people agitating the situation and help reassure the public who are already aware that it's being dealt with, without it being full out riot control.
But all in all, I see no issue with Keys suggestion. Life will go on regardless of where the narrative focuses. How we decide to play that is up to us, but I think ignoring it is the wrong decision, since it can open up opportunities for people who want something to do to do something, related to the DE but without overcomplicating the running plan.
Not to say "we're going to have the public panic regardless of how the community feels", but putting a hard NO on that is just, in my opinion, unrealistic. Not only unrealistic, it is purposefully shutting down potential ideas for interaction. If we want to minimize it, we can, and I think minimizing it in story is a wonderful way to actually have people who want to do something have a potential course of action.
Otherwise if people WANT something to do, they can either
- A: Think up something to do on their own
- B: Try to participate when opportunities are offered
- C: Come up with some other side thing to do
- D: Do nothing and wait for the story to progress. Choosing this option, in my opinion, does disallow complaining about having nothing to do.
So yeah. That's my piece in this.

"If there is no way to win, I will simply force a way."I am generally in favor of Keys' suggestion as Verax quantified it, though if we do go through with it we should probably agree on fairly concrete parameters of how widespread the asteroid's knowledge/public unrest will be ahead of time.
As for noticability, I don't think the asteroid would be noticeable to the naked eye until right before impact, but other astronomers/people with telescopes would definitely be able to see it/happen across it earlier.

Yeah. I think its a nice idea, as hammered out above.
As it is currently, I've only been able to treat DE as just some sort of "thing that is happening but not connected to me so yeah that's cool have fun guys".
Does... does that make sense?
...OK, I've got an alternate suggestion.
Part of the reason the plot's moving slowly is that Bitters is not only handling Zinnia and Eskay but she's been G Ming the overarching plot as a whole as well as certain other things, and things slow even more to a crawl when she's not available as a result. So I was thinking we could open up some of the greater-scope G Ming or at least NPC handling to others in general.
Again, I'm still very adamantly opposed to Keys' idea as-is because I need most of my characters to be unaware of the situation to avoid derailing my plans with them - which I should note I have a very important deadline for - but since I am disappointingly outvoted in that regard so far if Keys' plan does go through I still think my suggestion would still be viable alongside it and may very well mesh well with it.
Contact Me!
Yeah, I'm also pretty much opposed to having the general public know about it. Anyone in the J-Team who wants to know already knows. I've been stressed enough as it is and frankly I just want to carry on as close to the original plot as possible just to get it done. No distractions. At this point it's pretty much TS anyway.
The past couple weeks have not been nice to me. I'm really freaking tired and I can barely work up the energy to do RP stuff as it is.
EDIT: Taking over non-Zinnia characters would very much be appreciated.

Aight! If the general populace is making things difficult, then okay. If you need to get it done, go ahead.
I withdraw then. Have fun guys!

I once tried to run a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon RP, it didn't really take off and I am unsure of the twist I had planned.
Anyone wanna hear the twist?
