Anime/Hidan no Aria (Aria the Scarlet Ammo)

Shirayuki was always going to be yandere.

She's first introduced as a Yamato Nadeshiko, and these days there's almost always a flipside to that.

"Can someone tell me the name of the piece used when Kinji opens up the White and Black panties drawer? It was so funny!"

I thought it was a piece from O Fortuna, but I'm not sure.

It's just three chords, it's not really anything other than original scoring.

However, it's clearly patterned after O Fortuna from Carmina Burana, as observed by Eternal September. (Probably because that's become a memetic signifier for "epic".)

Well, there's a reason why she turned out the way she did, due to her very restrictive childhood. In a number of ways, Aria is actually the least broken out of the main heroines introduced thus far.

hmm. Can't really add anything new here, since UTW's having issues and I refuse to watch GG's anymore. I will say that in the novels, Shirayuki comes across as more restrained, IMO. I think they flanderized her into Yandere fr the same reason they cranked Aria's tsundereness up: fanservice/views/etc

There's a bit in the second book where Kinji takes her out on a date to see some fireworks, and she says:

"Just for tonight, just this once, I want Kinji to only think of me, not Aria."

I think she knows that she's lost him. It was actually quite an emotional moment; it's really ufortunate that the anime hasn't really reproduced any of these particularly well.

It looks like a series that will have a definite romantic conclusion, a la Toradora. I will be most annoyed if they arrived at a Tenchi Solution.

This might be off topic but can somebody blacklist GG fansubs and handle the raws to another sub group? Ep 7 is really coming off as a random troll crap and the subs are basically ripped from Google translations

I'm under the impression that the GG sub is essentially an intentional gag sub. Don't use their sub for this if you want someone who takes it seriously.

It's not like the internet wants to discard GG. If you know where to download the episodes subtitled by another group, I'd be happy to know

It appears that they're having a few delays, but UTW's sub is decent. You can re-download the existing episodes if you want a less provocative viewing experience.

GG's subs are horrible, yes. Are the subbers even native English speakers? The subs this time hurt my eyes, seriously?

gg is not actually bad, from what I've seen their subs for [C] are good enough. You just have to know which shows they're going to take seriously.

Oh, and DO NOT get their version of Hidan no Aria episode 7 if you're picky. Apparently because lots of people complained that their releases were not directly translated... well, they translated it as directly as possible. So we have English subs but in Japanese order. It's kind of funny, really.

They should either get the job frickin done like ALL the other subbers, or just just romanize EVERY japanese syllable for the heck of it. You take something seriously until the end, or don't take it at all

Well, I think gg trollsubbed Hidan because they knew a shitload of people were going to be fangasming over another tsundere loli, whilst with Money and Soul they did a good job because they themselves were interested in it. It'd be nice to have a gg member give an actual reason though.

I for one won't watch gg's Hidan subs, but I'm not RAGING over them either. Really, it's people's own fault for watching their subs just because they're the fastest. UTW usually releases not 5 hours later, so like I said, the people who are RAGING over GG's subs have only themselves to blame.

As I recall, they did a pretty good job with Madoka, as well. So its not Like GG is a total trollsub group.

You also have to take into consideration that gg is actually comprised of a number of different teams, and the work of those teams vary considerably in quality. You can say that their worst team is the one doing Hidan.

Problem is, it's not a job. They don't have to do it. It's up to them what they do with their projects because we're not paying them to do it.

What redcynic said was true, it's people's fault for downloading gg's subs in the first place. If you're going to eat rotten food because it's free then that's just your fault.

I could understand the rage if there weren't any other alternatives, but really, there are groups like UTW that take Hidan seriously. Getting angry and stuff will only encourage the trolling; it's better to just use other subs.

Well, they take it as seriously as they can. Truth be told, the only show more pointless and cliche then Hidan currently airing is Lotte, and even then at least Lotte doesn't try and excuse its tsundere loli-ness, but plays it for laughs instead.

Hidan no Aria the light novel was an interesting and entertaining read. Hidan no Aria the anime, however, got dragged down by five little words the writer himself wrote: Kanzaki Aria VA: Kugimiya Rie.

Seriously, without her, there would be no trollsubs. there would be no tsundere filler instead of asskicking Kinji. There would be actual character development, instead of LOL TSUNDERE/YANDERE LOVE RIVALRY LOLOLOL. Seriously, I'll finish watching what I started, mainly in hope of actual fight scenes and Hysteria!Kinji showing up. I really hope they don't make it Toradora with guns, I really don't.

I just finished watching Ep. 7, and it seems they'll be ending the series shortly during a severely-compressed E.U arc. Which means Reki gets almost no screen time, Jeanne gets no screen time as a friendly, Riko gets no screen time as a friendly , The E.U arc will be compressed into one or two episodes, and the show will probably get stuck after 1-cour and never get greenlighted for a second season.

Which is all very terrible, because the series deserves more than Tsundere bollockry (which is a word I made up just now.)

To be fair, what you're describing as "tsundere filler" would be there without Rie's presence, as it's all in the books as well. They haven't added anything, they've merely compressed it: there has been no excision of surplus "asskicking" Kinji moments. WYSIWYG, I'm afraid.

There's a lot of romantic rivalry in the source material as well, it's just better served by the novel format.

There are exactly as many fight scenes and appearances of Hysteria mode Kinji in the books as there are in the anime so far. If there were any more you'd all probably be complaining about how many liberties they took with the source material.

Given the direction it's currently taking in the latest novels, it's probably going to be more like Shana with guns, as remarked by somebody else earlier on.
