Well, there was. But it's gone now.

I wish Yack Fest didn't suck so bad, I might actually go there sometimes.

Unfortunately there isn't really a medium, OTC is sticking to the topic, and Yack Fest has no clue what's going on. There's not really a "Stay on topic, branch out on topics where it's meaningful to do so" forum.

I agree with Barkey, also, IJBM didn't count.

IJBM was awesome to be honest. I miss it.

I would love a General Forum like Yack Fest, but not as it is now. The reason I never go there is because not just do things go too fast, but it's like 50 percent silly shitposting and anime/hugbox/gender issues threads, stuff I have no interest in.

I.E. if we could have Yack Fest, but with all the people who are regulars in OTC, and not the regulars in YF(Except perhaps some of the overlap)

I hadn't hear that either, but it's best to leave it forgotten.

Also, let's get back on-topic. cool

I guess the reason in my opinion is, as said, no good medium between YF and OTC. tongue

Unfortunately I can't think of a good way to actually implement that.. "Ok guys, here in this forum you don't always derail and you don't never derail, we sometimes derail.

^ I don't see that happening, Barkey, although it would be nifty. You check out the COB threads? You qualify, by the way.

@Barkey: You'll want the Old Folk's Home instead, then. The topic is allowed to meander, but shitposting isn't allowed.

I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.

I'll have to check it out. I guess my alzheimers led to me forgetting it existed.

I forgot about Old Folk's Home...also there are four locked threads lately, not three like I said earlier. My bad. I still think epidemic is to strong a word, perhaps rise would be better. Nitpick. tongue

Are jokes on topic if it's not a very serious thread?

"also, IJBM didn't count."

It counted for a good while. It was a decent place for discussions that mostly stayed on topic but were more light-hearted and less rigorous than in OTC. It suffered from inherent negativity, but this was not a major issue until the birth of the unfortunate trend to make topics and posts about one's private life which naturally resulted in people being and feeling severely judged.

[up][up][up]Might as well rename this the On Topic Debate forum at times, the debates seem to start themselves.

"All the debates in non-debate threads get on my nerves...."

Fairly sure IJBMs are just as discouraged as "debating" in non-debate threads (the concept of which is fairly oxymoronic to me, since if you want to post something without inviting evaluation or discussion, you should do it in your personal blog and not a place built for discourse).
