It's true.
What happened to Ono was bad, yes, but it's still nothing compared to what happens in Chinese factories.....
Watch SymphogearOh, it's not like I'm gonna whine about them, boycott their stuff or anything. Maybe "hopping on the hate wagon" was too strong a term. But I can see them for what they are, and that's a typical greedy company.
Like I said, I'll still buy their games if I enjoy them.
Indeed.

Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.Wow really?
So it's just "that sucks, eh not gonna complain, but what happens to ___ in ___ is worse." kind of attitude? I'm disappointed in you, tropers. You guys tend to be the empathetic ones. Yeah there are worse situations in Chinese factories but that doesn't make what Capcom did to Ono okay or not as bad, as their treatment towards the guy is pretty messed up. A bad situation is a bad situation, even if there is a worse one elsewhere.
Like Ono said, companies listen to the consumers rather than the employees, so in a way yeah, we do have a responsibility to do something about it. If we don't like the way Capcom does their business, we need to let them know. Otherwise, why should care? Obviously it works, that's the message they're getting.
But if we let them know about their dickishness, will they try and change? Signs point to a resounding "No."
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.Problem is, the development industry is supersaturated with guys wanting to work on it, and not a lot people hiring.
Which means, if anyone threatens to leave it, they can just shrug it off, lay off his ass, and contract someone else with equal to worse conditions to him.
And honestly, I don't see any way out of this besides the whole industry collapsing and starting from scratch.
Awesome.
Best selling? Over Street Fighter?
....cool.
:smug:Well that's common knowledge, people like Tekken cause button mashing can occasionally make you look flashy. Button mashing in street fighter makes you look retarded.

That's a bit insulting to the Tekken fanbase, isn't it? I happen to enjoy the different combat style. The fact that comboes and special moves are done through a series of buttons and not quarter circles and such is just more fun to me.
:smug:Well thats how it is for newcomers at any level, but I distinctly remember my friends liking tekken more because it looked pretty and mashing out a win was easier. At tourney play none of that matters though for any fighting game, so it doesn't bother me terribly often.
Well that's just your friends. And I'd say being accessible to new players isn't a bad thing. If anything, being as closed as most fighting games are these days, where it's impossible to even land a hit because of pixel perfect combos, is more of a flaw I'd say.
:smug:I am infinitely better at Street Fighter than I am at Tekken. I like them both, though.
Combos are in no way pixel perfect in modern fighting games. If anything, they're easier to do.
Easier =/= easy.
shadowryu, I believe you're making a large over-generalization about the Tekken fanbase, and I'll leave it at that.
Anyway, my condolences go out to Ono. The poor guy. Oh, Capcom... I want to support your games, but your practices, your philosophies, it's just so counter-intuitive.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadProbably. I got bored of Tekken after the original tag and Tekken 4 turned out to be Jin vs Jin. Say what you will about Capcom's games having tier problems, it was never so bad that the entire metagame revolved around 1 character and how to possibly counter him. But that's just one of the many reason why I'm no longer keeping up with the Tekken community.
Also, I feel like this thread has gone way off base from talking about this game to general bitching about Capcom.

Actually, Tekken's been pretty good about character balancing of late. Sure T4 had Jin destroying the metagame, and Steve did the same in 5 (which is probably part of why Dark Resurrection was made), but they've been on the mark since.
As for Capcom, they're primarily behind SFxT, so I feel that, aside from talking about the game itself, a lot of the discussions are going to default to whatever the company itself is doing.
It won't be until TTT2 is out in September and Harada's team gets to work on TxSF (which is only something like 3% complete at the moment because most of the team's resources are going to Tag 2; as such, we probably won't be seeing it until mid 2013 at the earliest) that our discussions will start to steer away from that.
And speaking of TxSF, is that character poll still up? Anyone know the results from it?
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadOn the mark? That Bobfest last year says otherwise...
Yeah, not really. Sure, Bob's top-tier material, but is he broken? No.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadNever said he was broken, but considering just how overrepresented he was, I'd say it's a big indicator that he's pretty unbalanced.
It's not like Capcom didn't put forward a super street figther 4: Yun's edition.
Donate money to Skullgirls, get a sweet poster. But the difference was that in evo was actually pretty varied with character usage in the Street Fighter tournament. Hell, Yun didn't even get into top 3 at evo. And Tekken tiers are just as annoying as Street Fighter tiers, and in TTT 2 a master of the Mishimas will leave you crying just as much as Yun ever did.

Oh internet, you and your crazy mods.

A good writer puts in a lot of details in there story. But a great one gets a story from a single detail.
Agreed. I'm certainly not going to sing their praises, or anything, but there's no purpose to bitching about them.
