So the linked exploit didn't work for me; whether I was doing it wrong or if it's been patched I can't really say. After a few attempts all ending with the very not pacified cursed dragon's head trying very hard to clip through the door I decided fuck it let's just give it the old college try. And it worked! I managed to dragonforge every bit of my pawns armor (did I mention I was playing a fighter despite having leveled primarily as a sorc for the past 70 levels?) and only had to use one wakestone and like half of my spring water.

I tried it and it didn't work for me either. I guess the idea is to make the dragon soft-reset(flying upward out of the map, then coming down on his spawn position) before you save and reload.

The dragon should then be standing where the meat is, and if that is farther from you then it's aggro range, it will be unaware on reloading. So you can screw the whole thing up by placing your meat in the wrong place.

I tried assassin last night to get some strength growths but it's seriously one of the most boring classes in the game. That and you have to constantly adventure at night to get the most out of buffs. I went back to warrior and started actually having fun again.

Warrior isn't bad main game but has glaring weaknesses you need to account for and also struggles in BBI pretty badly.

I didn't think of the aggro range but that makes a whole lotta sense. I'll have to check it tomorrow with placing the bait further back, leaving the pawns at home, etc.

I installed a mod that reduces glow effects, and now pawns casting magic at night doesn't cause me to go blind. Literally everyone should use this mod.

Also, the glow from weapon enchantments no longer consumes my entire character, so that's cool.

Strider is a lot more fun than I remember.

Magic Knight is kind of okay, a bit too much micromanaging for my taste.

I forgot how cool sorcerer is. Does any game do magic as cool as DD? It's so satisfying to pull off and looks incredible. Though fighting soul armors and golems is NOT cool with them :[

Fighter is fun. I remember liking MA too since I dislike manually aiming my bow lol.

Can't remember Ranger too well.

Only the first Dragon Age has spells that look as impressive as the ones on Dragon's Dogma.

Ranger is not as flashy as some of the other classes, but I find it satisfying the same way playing a sniper in a shooter is - it's fun to make enemies pop from across the map tongue

Took Grigori down last night, forgot how epic that fight is. I would've finished it more quickly had he not trapped me between his tail and leg when he fell. Still arc of deliverence managed to deal about a ball and a half even without hitting the heart directly. Now if only I had hit him directly...though he certainly started dying more quickly when my pawn used high fulmination. Was wondering why she didn't do it earlier in the match.

Doind Everfall, man some of these fights are beyond frustrating. The metal golem/lich one took forever since My archer pawn would not hit the last talisman(it was out of reach and I was a warrior) and insisted on slashing the golemn instead. Idiot. I finally realized how to use the go command correctly, you have to physically move the camera facing towards the target directly and then press go, once I did that he started hitting it consistently.

The double cockatrice one with the eyeballs was a nightmare as all my pawns got petrified and the cockatrices rampaging around breathing status everywhere while constantly being at risk from an offscreen fireball just made things insane. Took like 15 minutes total.

But the worst? The freakin hellhounds. Oh, but with a lich. And a gore chimera, with his chimera little brother. Probably the hardest fight in the game so far, I actually reclassed to strider thinking it'd let me hurt the lich more easily with arrows but apparently not. Minute you get knocked down those freakin dogs drag you around, setting you up to get pummeled by a chimera or worse, they drag you into range of a spell circle. Only battle so far I had to use a wakestone, plus nearly all my healing items. Screw hellhounds, seriously.

Actually, there are no hellhounds in the Chamber of Fate, the lich summons them. You aren't playing a ranged class? Good luck taking that bastard down while your pawns are dealing with the continiously spawning hellhounds.

And when I was there recently the game spawned the alternative monster group right after the fight.

http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/dragon-s-dogma-dark-arisen-is-capcom-s-fastest-selling-pc-game/0162379

The PC version of RPG Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is Capcom’s fast-selling game for the platform thus far.

The title – which debuted on January 15th on Steam – is also one of the publisher’s Top Three best-selling PC releases.

Dark Arisen is an enhanced version of 2012’s Dragon’s Dogma, which launched for Play Station 3 and Xbox 360 back in 2013.

Capcom does note that though Dark Arisen is its fast-selling PC title so far, the initial sales of the console versions were higher as they benefited from a full marketing push pre-launch.

“We are extremely pleased with the performance of Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen. It is our fastest-selling PC title to date, thanks to an audience eagerly waiting for it, and us delivering to the level of quality gamers were expecting,” marketing director Antoine Molant told MCV.

“Based on a similar sales period, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is in the Capcom's Top Three PC releases after these few weeks, along with Resident Evil and Dead Rising 3.”

Happy for Capcom and PC gamers right now.

Well-deserved. Who knows, maybe we'll even see Monster Hunter hit PCs one day. I'm sure it would find its share of followers there. Until then, there's at least Bandai Namco's God Eater 2.

I'd be fine if they just bring over one of the MM Os. Though that doesn't seem likely until after Deep Down tests the Western market for COG a bit, whatever that turns out to be.

Monster hunter is essentially just the fight giant monsters bit of DD taken up to 11, right? Because that does sound hella fun.

Pretty much. Aside from the tutorial and some ressource gathering here and there you do nothing but fight monsters.

But the games require you to adapt to each monster much more than Dogma. While in DD you try to be the best version of your vocation and have good and bad matchups, Monster Hunter forces you to learn each monster's behavior and it's possible to completely change your playstile from one boss to the next. That is in endgame content and if you play alone. Everything gets quite easy when you go into multiplayer.

It's actually really similiar to how DDO plays with pawns.

Yes and no; Monster Hunter is all about slaughtering giant creatures, but gameplay-wise it's a whole different beast.

So turns out the condemned gorecyclops can drop tier 2 BBI weapons. Managed to snag hallowed dragon and dragonforge it and omg guize I'm in love. A permanent holy enchant and it looks fucking awesome? I may never switch out from sorcerer.

[up][up]I think you can even steal the equipment off it as a Strider and reset the loot table by leaving and reentering Midnight Helix.

The real issue in that area are the adds and especially those bloody Strigae. If you manage to clean the room without the cyclops breaking loose, any range class can cheese him once you have attacks above the damage threshhold. Then you can spend the evening savescumming the chests for lvl 3 equipment, because screw everything before Bitterblack Sanctum.

Oh question: after I defeat daimon the first time will those doors back to the entrance close? Might try to finish the notice board quests first if so.

Kinda weird that I can't skip silver rarifying and go straight for gold. I mean it's not weird but the original system was weird so I was sorta expecting it to be like that but w/e.

The evil floaty dude and the dragon should've been a really tense fight buuuuuut I brought a gold staff so evil floaty dude just kinda sat there while my dudes smacked him about and the dragon was really not a problem. At this point I'm thrilled to see a cursed dragon; great odds to dragonforge my gear!

Both shortcuts close, but you don't need to get the void keys again. BBI 2 doesn't take that long, you can just run through the areas and the mandatory bosses don't change.

From then on the great gazer and the undead bishop respawn like chests, so you can easily farm them.

So TIL that there's a cap on the number of portcrystals you can have at any one time. On a slightly unrelated note anyone want two portcrystals? I've also got an extra wyrmking ring here if someone wants that as well. EDIT: or a drake's tear. After killing the drake like ten times on my first run: nothing. Kill this one just on my way to a badge of vows? 2.

Well Daimon the first was annoying. As a MK his AI had this wonderful ability to wait until juuuust before my great cannon was due to drop then smack me down. And that vortex is a whole 'nother beast. Finally figured out that if I was the first in and dropped a ruinous sigil just before getting swallowed it would interrupt him. The fight proper wasn't too difficult. Stay behind cover, set up your sigils, pop your prepiarts then go to town when his back is turned.

For Daimon the second I'm thinking I'll run a mystic archer. Ricochet would be pretty useless in such a big hall but Daimon seems to be fairly mellow if you're hanging onto him so immolate+buffs and hundred kisses oughta do it.

So silly question but I feel I need to ask: you can ng+ more then once, right? Like if I find BBI 2: electric boogaloo too tough I can pop ng+ and have vanilla and BBI progress reset?

[down] Ranger with blast arrows seems to be DD's trump card. No matter what the game throws at us a couple hundred blast arrows can solve it.

Either Magick Archer, or Ranger with explosive arrows. Both are pretty much the ultimate Daimon killers.
