I think it's OK to enjoy whatever personality traits you have if
1. They are enjoyable (to you), so if they cause you to feel bad, you should try to overcome or accept them; and
2. they don't cause suffering to others, so you should stop buying stuff if you don't know where it's made.
As for me, I only stuff that's made in the EU if at all possible. I know corporations sometimes lie about where the clothes (or whatever) are made, but usually, if it has a "made in the EU" or "made in [EU country N]" sticker on it, I know at least some standard of working conditions was observed.

It's not vanity if it's practical. For better or worse, people will judge you by your appearance. Having that overlap with your own desires is merely a lucky coincidence.
