That was perfect.
Having Springsteen do the sendoff was brilliant. Damn, Jon, we'll miss you.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I AM SO SAD!!!!
I was thinking about the debate and how great it will be to hear Jon talk about it, and I made myself sad all over again.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.I privately wondered if Fox didn't choose the date for it precisely because Stewart would be unable to have a show mocking it.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"...Mc Cain with the Muppet made me hit pause and laugh for a minute. Damn.
Also 'What the fuck are commercials?!' heh.
"You can reply to this Message!"And then Colbert came in with a haymaker of feels.
The best thing is that it's a double joke, as John started out in the UK and did stuff on the BBC (he was on Mock the Week a fair few times) which also have no adds.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranAs a "Whose Line?" fan, I was a little disappointed that Denny Siegel didn't turn up along with the other correspondents, but from what I understand, there were quite a few that weren't even invited.
With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationWhich ones?
End of an era. Very sad. Mc Cain's farewell was great. I also loved the Arby's CEO finally getting to fire back.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Arby's has dedicated a new sandwich to Jon.
Called "The Daily Deli," it's double corned beef and deli mustard on marble rye. It's part of the secret menu (meaning it's unlisted, so you can't get it if you don't ask).
The commercial describes it as "The last sandwich Arby's ever wanted to make, because it means he's gone," and "it's not just for him, it's for all of us, for when the sad thoughts come back."
Aww. :)
For all their fake feud, Arby's got a lot of free buzz from The Daily Show.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"It wasn't even really a feud. Their relationship was more Jon ragging on them (for no reason, by his own admission), and Arby's just taking it and being really friendly. And, occasionally, jokingly passive-aggressive.
A real example of bizarre late-night comedy show host vs. food product feud was Stephen Colbert and Miracle Whip. Stephen, of course, was outright trolling on Miracle Whip's stupid ad campaign at the time, and Miracle Whip seemed to take it seriously.
And edit to "fake."

Colbert's praise of Bud Light Lime as a sponsor seemed sarcastic to the point of hostility at times.
Fresh-eyed movie blogBut that's not a feud. Because Bud was paying for him to shill for them.

I think my favorite part of the finale was the montage of "enemies" seeing him off.
I mean, you expect all the old co-workers to comeback and colleagues to give him a fond farewell, but to see so many of the people Jon has criticized and taken to task over the years giving tongue-in-cheek farewell wishes really encapsulates how much the Daily Show has done and how well reaching its scope was.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I was really happy that Jon and Wyatt buried the hatchet. Or at least they had a bit where they buried the hatchet.
Wyatt was always my favorite :3
Jason Jones was on The Late Show a couple days ago, and he had a fun conversation with Stephen about their times on TDS. Jason beat Stephen's record of having done the most number of field pieces (they're both in the triple digits).
More amusingly, Jason is the most-sued correspondent over those, and Stephen was the first to be sued.
I didn't know they got sued. That's kinda neat.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. It doesn't happen terribly often (Jason's big record is three lawsuits), but it apparently does happen.
I'm pretty sure Jason is also the only correspondent to get a guy sent to prison, but that's not one he's proud of.

Wow.... it took 16 years, but Craig Kilborn finally made a reappearance.
