What is it with Italy and its love for having crazy people in charge?
Crazy people are entertaining?
Not when they are ruling an empire/country they aren't!
They are if it's not your country.
Fight smart, not fair.Or if you don't have business interests in that country. Insane people aren't good for investment.
So, does that mean that Italy likes to put crazies in charge to amuse other countries? That's so generous of them! But I think someone else should do it for a while. Fortunately, elections are underway in Finland, and if my worst fears come true, we'll wish we had Berlusconi!
Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.Uh oh, fascist Finland. Look out, world: this one can't be tamed.
I'm a skeptical squirrelWell OK, it's not that bad. But a party led by this guy might grow to be the largest (depending on how many people actually bother to vote) in the elections, and that guy's looks are 12 times better than his politics.
Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur. Why does he have a badger brush stuffed up each nostril?
Instead of derailing this thread further, here's a link to a thread about Finnish politics.
Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.I'm more worried about Conan O'Brien.
Charlie Tunoku is a lover and a fighter.
As for Berlusconi being the lesser evil, I disagree. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of crooked and untrustworthy politicians among his opponents, but the difference is that they do not have is massive financial and media power - which, by the way, is the only reason his government did not fall already: he pretty transparently bought some Parliament members from the opposition, and his support comes mostly from the people who mostly get their news from television (the vast majority of the newspapers loathe him, as does the vast majority of the people who read newspapers). Plus, I think that, at the moment, there might be a few more vaguely acceptable people in the opposition.
But I did not want to complain about Berlusconi in this thread, I do that often enough already.
A funny tidbit of news: the main Italian LGBT rights organization has asked for de Mattei to be substituted with said Cardinal Ravasi - who is, actually, fairly conservative and not at all inclined towards their interests, but at least is not insane

But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas.
