Good eye! I'm always too focused on the subtitles to notice little details like wedding rings unless they're deliberately being shown off.
i. hear. a. sound.I wouldn't be surprised if the deaths of both Kaede' mom and Barnaby's parents were related, what with their being all (apparently) scientists. And if it turns out that the employing companies *are* indeed part of a conspiracy, Tiger and Bunny are probably going to do some bonding (no slash joke here) over their mutual losses. After going on a Roaring Rampage of Revenge of course.
The "genetic mutation" that give superpowers is really strange, really, to get two not related people with the seme power and same limitations (five minutes is far too specific).
Yeah, that part really bothers me a lot too. I suppose it's not impossible, but the probability for it is really low. My personal theory is that it's a result of the suits that harnesses the NEXT energy into that specific super power, especially considering that when we saw Kotetsu in ep 2 as a kid, his power seems more like an uncontrollable blowback/concussive force effect.
Oh, and another interesting trivia. Remember the Good Luck Mode at the end of this episode, that powers up (not really) Barnaby's foot and Wild Tiger's arms? Well, rabbit's foot is a well-known good luck charm, and talisman made by tiger claws are believed to be able to ward against fear and bad luck as well.
Lilly sees what you did there.Hate to break it to you, but I'm actually a Tom/Shizuo fan, but that's a conversation for another thread.
Personally, My theory is that Barnaby's powers were engineered. Parents die and some weird dude that runs Apollon Media immediately approaches you and goes, "Hey, have I got an unspecified, plot-important deal for you!"? Gotta be some sort of NEXT engineering program.

"If there's a hole, it's a man's job to thrust into it!" — Ryoma Nagare, New Getter Robox6
Hey, I noticed it before anyone else B[
And Muhammed H. Christ on a popsicle stick, can I like any anime from this season without threads about it devolving into giddy gay shipping? What is it about anime that makes people want to see men do each other in the butt...?
Anyway, I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing some more supervillains; it's only logical that some NEX Ts use their powers for evil. Brotherhood of Evil NEXTs, anyone?

I'll turn your neocortex into a flowerpot! What Sparky said.
i. hear. a. sound.People watch this for other reasons than slash?
The wonderful writing and art direction are merely icing on the slash cake.
i. hear. a. sound.I don't think you can reasonably expect a thread about a show where someone says "I'll be his present" to not have slash discussion.
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.Wait, am I seriously in the minority of people who watch this show because it's actually good and not just for slash fodder? 0_0 I feel so alone...
^Well, I expected it, but it gets...tiring.

I'll turn your neocortex into a flowerpot!^I was being facetious.
I'll turn your neocortex into a flowerpot!I watch this series for multiple reasons; the characters, the plot, the humor, art, and just the refreshing feeling of the series overall. The slashing is just an added bonus for me.
Yeah, the series is pretty good, overall. Though I must admit I probably wouldn't have given it a shot were it not for the whole "costume advertising" thing.
^That was probably what they were banking on. Though personally, it was the Western comics-style heroes/heroics that got me hooked; I was expecting a much more Japanese/traditional Sunrise robot show.
I'll turn your neocortex into a flowerpot!I got attracted by the costume advertising too.
Well actually before that I was more interested in how a show called Tiger & Bunny would be like until I actually saw pictures of it. d:
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.I also got attracted by the costume advertising. That the Star Crossed Anime Blog gave it a good review for the first episode didn't hurt. Over time I've learned that I have similar enough tastes to him that I can go through his series' impressions and filter out the trite I know I'll hate.
i. hear. a. sound.I also checked the staff working on it beforehand, knowing the guy from Karas was directing this was rather reassuring.
The reason why this is two cour is because Sunrise doesn't have anything else to bother spending money on when they have this much advertising within the show.
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.I checked this out because Sunrise and it looked narmy. It turned out okay; at least for now, it's not really one of my favorite shows but it's decent to watch and has funny moments.
I would normally be shipping them at least for lulz, but for some reason I don't really care for this ship. I dunno.
Tumblr here.
Probably similar genes like the X-gene, which allows them to have telepathy, telekinesis, shoots laser (sorry, concussive force) out of their eyes, or controls the weather. But seriously, I do like the possibility of Kaede being a NEXT as well. We don't know for sure when exactly do the powers manifested nor if it's always the same for everyone, although it's possible that Kaede is a late bloomer in any case. Probably for a sequel?
Nope, you're most definitely not alone. Hell, Shizaya is probably the most popular pairing of Durarara!!, even characters in the show (Erika, iirc) ships them and lampshades it.
As for Tiger & Bunny, I think most fans collectively agree that Barnaby should be on top the moment he catches and carry Kotetsu bridal-style as early as ep 1. In fact, the first fanart that has Tiger on top, it was a literal Tiger animal...although I suppose with more fanworks now surely at least one of them have human!Tiger on top.
And nice catch about the mysterious man being the judge. Hmmm...this does gives further evidence to the suspicion that the real enemy is related to the government officials employing the heroes.
Oh, and I personally thinks his wife is dead as well as opposed to amiably divorced, based on the fact that he's still wearing his wedding ring (you can see it clearly in the bomb episode). Well, it's not like it's impossible to wear a wedding ring if you were divorced, but it's slightly less likely. Also, it further serves as a parallel with Barnaby, both of them having their loved ones died.
