The most famous/used scream of cinema.

Have you ever heard the scream without having it pointed out to you? I hear it all the time, it makes me chuckle

I’d never notice it if it weren’t pointed out to me.

The stock sound effect I most notice is that cat screech sound. You know the one, you hear it all the time.

You mean the one where someting bad happens off screen and you hear glass break and a cat screech? Or are you referring to another one?

I've noticed Wilmhelm dozens of times in movies. Most recently in Kingdom Of Heaven.

My favourite stock scream is Youraagh, though.

Eh, I don't think that scream is appropriate the majority of the times it's used.

I've only come across a few times where it was used well, in all of them it was heavilly edited or obscured.

I've been noticing it for years before I came to this site, and was pretty surprised to find out it had a name.

Yeah I've been noticing it for years and years. Honestly, it's gotten to the point where if a movie uses it, no matter how tense the scene is, I'm immediately pulled out of the story. It's basically like yelling "Sound effect!"

Which is why using it in every single episode of Primeval's first series got very old, very fast.

I was re-watching Reservoir Dogs a little awhile ago and I heard them Wilhelm scream as Mr. Pink in running from the cops. Never noticed that before.

There's another stock scream I hear a lot, but it is a woman's. Unfortunately, I do not know its name.

Yeah I think the Wilhelm Scream should be limited to just comedy films. It really makes a dramatic scene pure Narm.

I want to know the name of the scream that sounds like GYAA-AA-AARGH!. I think its used frequently in the N64 Mission Impossible game.

I think the scream's knowingly used in George Lucas films.

You could probably make a pretty decent length video of the Wilhelm Scream in George Lucas films alone.

Wait... I thought that scream was the Wilhelm Scream...

I wouldn't know. I've never played the game he's talking about, but the way he typed out the scream made me think of the video linked in Post #4.

Look at the first video. Almost all of them were from Lucas-produced films.

What's the name of the scream that Goofy always makes?

Trivia: the nameless Mook who Wilhelmed his way into the Sarlacc Pit in Return of the Jedi was actually Ben Burtt.
