-shrug- I've never noticed the face.

It's not as obvious as on the Droid Gunship, for example.

Just started watching the Clone Wars on Netflix.

Have to say I'm really loving it. What does the community think of it?

Uneven when it rocked it ROCKED, when it was meh it's a hard meh.

Later seasons provided more of the good stuff arc wise. "Rookies" is my favorite season 1 episode.

I'm enjoying it so far. Currently on the one where they have to deal with the natives of a snow planet. Good stuff.

Personally, I like the whole thing. It does get markedly better around the halfway point of season 3, but even before that it's still really good.

One thing I do keep thinking when I watch TCW is: "For fuck's sake just kill him!". Every villain of the week is more despicable than the last.

Nuvo Vindi wanted to re-release the deadliest virus in history. He does not deserve to live! Just kill the bastard.

James Bond would kill him. "A vaccine won't help with that" is what he'd say.

Which is why this is one of the best scenes in the show.

It also gives us really fun little Continuity Nods, like in Seaason 5 where you can see Poggle the Lesser, Wat Tambor, and Whorm Loathsom on a prison viewscreen.

Wait, so I've heard that Ahsoka is supposed to appear on Rebels, either soon or eventually. Has this been confirmed?

Well, there is the Fulcrum = Ahsoka theory, and the pitch-changed audio does sound similar to Ashley Eckstein. Also James Arnold Taylor was saying "Ahsoka, I hope we see you again soon" at the Star Wars Weekend things during the summer. But that's about it. I hope she appears at some point, but anything before the final scene of this season is too soon, and even that might be too soon for my taste.

Considering how much the Inquisitor outclasses Kanan, the crew of the Ghost will need something a bit more than simply "third time is the charm" to beat him for good, but that can happen a variety of ways without needing Ahsoka.

On TCW: I really love how it's one of the few series that ends on its strongest notes. Too many series drag on too long and burn away their quality, but TCW ended with the best it had with Seasons 5 and 6. "The Lawless" is in my eyes the pinnacle of lightsaber combat in the prequel era: still a bit floaty, flashy, and spinny, but it's also brutally effective and lethal. Ahsoka's final arc is a wonderful personal study into the ultimate tragedy of the Clone Wars. And Yoda's arc is intense while still bringing a little bit of hope for the future, despite the ultimately bleak conclusion of the war.

I really need to rewatch the last few episodes of TCW.

I'm not really sure about the longevity of each of Lothal Rebels' respective species, so I'm not really sure how long each of them will live (except Chopper, who, being robot, will live as long as nothing damages him beyond beyond repair), but no matter how i look at it, I keep thinking that Kanan and Ezra won't live up to the timeframe of the Original Trilogy.

To me, those movies seemed very clear about one thing: that, not counting Luke, there were only two Jedi left in the entire Galaxy; Yoda and Obi-Wan. By that logic, Kanan and Ezra cannot be alive at that point.

It's a big galaxy. Yoda and Obi-Wan thought they were the only ones left, so Luke and everyone else thought they were the only ones left.

Force-sensitive children don't just stop being born because there's an Emperor. If there are children with the potential to be Jedi out in the world that the Empire isn't aware of then it's entirely possible, and even likely, for a few of the old Jedi to escape for hide out for 20 years as well.

Pretty much [up]. Also recall Obi-Wan's message:

Do not return to the temple. That time has passed, and our future is uncertain. We will each be challenged, our trust, our faith, our friendships. But we must persevere, and in time, a new hope will emerge. May the Force be with you, Always.

In other words: Hide and stay in hiding. It is not our destiny to defeat the Sith, but the destiny of those who will come after us.

Here's an opinion: TCW is everything the prequels should have been.

They remind me a lot of the Commando comics, but set in the SW galaxy.

EDIT: Anakin and Padme's home life is endearingly cute in this, rather than being...horrific. My new headcanon is that the prequels never happened, and this is real SW.

[up]To be fair, TCW had a much easier job. They were able to build off what the prequels had already established—cutting down on exposition—and more importantly, TCW had 121 episodes of content. 60 hours of material versus the 8 or so in the prequels isn't much of a content. The creators had a lot of time to hit their stride and find out what works.

Besides, there's no doubt we're already wearing Nostalgia Goggles: we've let the mediocre bits of the series fall out of the discussion. Look at my post above—I mention three of the absolute best arcs in the series, when there's also a bunch of middling episodes that I can't be bothered to care about. When comparing the meh-to-awesome ratios for the two, they're probably pretty damn near equal.

Lastly, TCW worked so well because it was a television show. Trying to compress it into three films would do it absolutely no favors. While we can be hopeful that hypothetical TCW films would have still told the series' best arcs in cinematic form, they lose a lot of their punch as a series of films. Ahsoka's arc works so well because it is a capstone to five seasons of development; making it a film dependent on only two other movies' worth of development cuts it down by a lot.

No nostalgia goggles here, I'm just watching it for the first time now.

It does have an easier job than the prequels, but by the same token I think a TV series could have been just as good a medium for the prequels as films. In fact, TV is probably a better medium for Lucas's style of storytelling. Watching TCW makes me think that Lucas made a huge misstep in the OT, when a TV series could have - should have - been so much better.

Obi Wan and Yoda were the last Jedi from the old order. Wasn't Canan a Padawan at best when the Order fell? He would have mastered the rest of his powers on his own and created his own style of teaching instead of following the old ways exactly.

From a certain point of view, even if Canan and Ezra lasted into the original trilogy, they aren't Jedi by the standards of the old ones.

Renewal: If you count the fact that the movie was originally four episodes, it kind of had 125. :D

TCW mostly benefitted from the fact that Lucas was not in charge of the creative side. He's bad at writing dialogue, and he doesn't direct for actors. But he's brilliant at building a universe. TCW is basically Lucas' vision focused through Filoni's lens.

Achaemenid: A TV show would not have had the budget to become Star Wars. People went and saw that movie four or five times, because the effects were mindblowing. Nothing like them had ever been seen before.

Journeyman: That's the whole point of Luke though, isn't it? That the Jedi aren't like the old ones anymore. That's why he's so important.

Good point. Still think that the prequels were garbage though.

So, Ki-Adi-Mundi just incinerated a whole bunch of Geonosians with flamethrowers, whilst his clones finished off the screaming survivors as he chats to Anakin on the comlink. This show can get dark.
