I wish there had been a spinoff show starring Dale.

Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.

[up] To answer the OP:

Fuck anyone who hates Hank Hill. IMHO, the fact that he's more likable than any main male on Animation Domination right now justifies me saying that!!

That goes for Peggy, too.

Eh, I hated pretty much everyone on that show except for Dale.

[up] Dale was the best character when it came to things happening on the show, I'm sure. But I think the show would've been less than what it is in my eyes (Awesome ad how you do an animated family sitcom right IMHO) if he were the main focus.

I don't think Dale would make a good lead character either, it's just that everyone else . . . well, the big problem I have with King Of The Hill is that it usually felt like they were trying to parody obnoxious people, but their parodies ended up being obnoxious in their own right.

If King of the Hill had ended after six seasons and not limped on for twelve (did anyone other than Fox want to to run that long?), we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

Hank Hill is too bland for me to hate.

Hank is hilarious, I don't get where all this hate is coming from. Hating Peggy is a lot more understandable. Hating Lucky just makes perfect sense.

What? He has his flaws, but he's really likable and relatable.

Peggy's the one I hate.

Why did he marry her?

Because they love each other.

(as much as I found Peggy annoying, I didn't have a problem with her as a character. In some ways I relate to her, which may be partly why...)

I haven't seen the whole series, but from the majority of episodes I've seen Hank was rather likeable.

I despise bland characters, I usually think characters that have blandness as a deliberately written personality trait are rather funny however (eg. Marge Simpson, early Cleveland Brown). Something about Hank's over the top dullness makes him rather amusing to listen to.

It's actually coco. The forum hates Hank because he's conservative, and the forum is by and large, Liberal.
I think this probably has a bit to do with it... it's just the whole nature of the show

FWIW, Mike Judge (creator of the show) does not espouse the same political views as Hank Hill. From what I've read, Judge leans libertarian. Fairly certain he didn't write the show intending it as a political tract.

He agrees with a lot of the same things that Trey Parker and Matt Stone believe in and they hate everything.

KOTH is not a political show in the way South Park is but I'm sure it reflects Mike Judge's viewpoint to a large extent (as does B&B, Idiocracy, etc). The show basically portrays 'rednecks'/southern conservatives/Christians in a sympathetic light when the general tendency is to consider them acceptable targets. South Park does the same to some extent. One memorable line from South Park, spoken by a guy at an anti-gay marriage rally: "Actually, we don't hate homosexuals... we just don't want them to get married." Contrast with Family Guy...

The forum hates Hank because he's conservative, and the forum is by and large, Liberal.

His dog is named after a Democratic First Lady. I'm pretty sure that Hank's political views are Texas centric.

I love Peggy Hill if only for her trial scene.
