[up] But she starts with Summon Aqua, doesn't she?

Does she? If so, you need to wait for summon copy anyway.

Pretty sure she starts with Summon Flare and Summon Bolt.

She starts with 3 doesn't she? And then gets Earth, Air and Ice?

Well, just got to Frontier Village. Holy cow, this place is huge. And I lost Melia for a while.

Wait till you get Rikki. Such a fun cut scene.

And wait 'til you get to the next area. IMO it has the best scenery in the game. Especially at night and during a certain weather condition.

Just got Riki, and played around with him for a while. Wow, that is a lot of HP. And I saw his skills for the Skill Trees. Oh I am definitely gonna want those. He seems to be a tank, with damage over time being his main attribute, if his tutorial and attacks are anything to go by.

Yup, pretty much. There's a reason it's commonly held Riki can solo bosses :P

My favorite team is Melia, Riki, and a third person.

Yeah, Shulk's AI isn't that good. It doesn't seem to know what to do in most cases. I managed to get in a nasty tangle with Breezy Zolos (and an EXTREMELY UNWELCOME one with that level 98 dino!) Once I realized that this boss was spiked, I was waiting for him to use Monado Purge to get rid of the spike. He never did it, so my party constantly died.

Well I bought the game.

Forked out about twice as much for it as I did for a used Wii. What the hell. I could have bought a completely new copy of Xenogears for jus a few more dollars.

Anyway, before my game arrives, I wanted to ask you all something.

I love both Xenosaga and Xenogears. I loved Saga ever since 2003 and I loved Gears ever since 2005. I was actually gonna replay Gears but then I learned of the rathe fortuitous timing. I'm in a Xeno mood in the same month Xenoblade finally comes out here.

Anyway, as a fan of Takahashi's other stuff it seems inevitable I'll at least like this game, even if I don't love it like so many people do. I've heard it's quite different from both Xenogears and Xenosaga in several key ways.

So...the question. If you've played Xenogears or Xenosaga, how do you stack Xenobalde against them?

[up] Haven't played Gears or any of the Saga games, but I really want to.

I think the best thing you can do is try not to compare Xenoblade to the others. It's not connected to them, so try to treat it as its own thing.

Hope you enjoy it!

Well I got my Wii and copy of Xenoblade but I'm a dumbass and didn't realize GC controllers don't work with most Wii games. So now I gotta order an actual Wii "classic" controller because what the fuck is this remote control thing. How on Earth can you enjoy playing anything like a JRPG with this garbage?

Man I'm just really frustrated and disappointed right now. I'll have to wait to really play the game until I get teh controller tomorrow.

I played it with the remote & Nunchuck. Never felt the desire to get a different controller. Xenoblade doesn't use any motion controls.

Yeah, the only jRPG that is actually awkward to play with the Wiimote and Nunchuck would be Arc Rise Fantasia, just because the buttons are really weirdly assigned. Oh, if you get Pandora's Tower, USE THE WIIMOTE. It's a huge pain with the classic controller.

Oh, and the Classic Controller Pro is better. It's more comfortable to hold and the button assignments are less weirdly spaced.

Not Three Laws compliant.

Yeah I got the Classic Pro.

I just don't like the Wiimote. It's like a TV remote as opposed to an actual game controller.

Having tested it out a bit, the snnsor is also a problem for me because I sit close to the TV on account of my really shitty eyesight. Just getting the whole thing started was a pain.

I especially love his Melly fics.

So, can we talk about how weird it is that Melia kinda just stops talking from the end of the Fallen Arm to Agniritha?

Did she have an allergic reaction to all the smog given off by the Mechonis?

She was struggling with Shulk-based feelings after the rather significant addition of Seven, perhaps?

Kinda sucks that only Sharla picked up on her feelings. I mean, anyone other then Riki could have told her that it was a doomed prospect from the outset.

Random question, but i recently added this game to the list on Death of the Hypotenuse, mainly for Reyn/Sharla purposes. I said it was a weird thing, with Gadolt first being dead, then not, then dead again. Does it apply? I mainly ask because of how inconclusive the relationship ended up being.

I'm not sure it does count. After all, the three of them weren't together at the same time long enough for an actual love triangle to really develop. In my view, anyway.
