Nothing big to note, just bug fixes.

more marauders, then. stimpack marauders > diamondbacks.

wait, did marauders even have stimpacks in the campaign? I'm pretty sure it was only firebats and marines.

They did not, I'm pretty sure. If so this is the first I've heard about it.

Yeah, they don't. They're still IMBAAA though.

[up][up][up]Wait, I thought is was only Marines. I'm sure stim pack Marauders would kill Diamondbacks also.

I never used firebats so I don't remember clearly but I don't think they had stim.

They had Stim in the first game. Can't quite remember if they have stim this time around.

Hmm... the Moebius mission has got my strategic sense going and going... that second building is better defended than I expected, especially since there's no high ground. I figured dropping a Hercules full of merc marines and firebats right on top of them would do the job. Nope. Guess I'll pick up the Marauders first after all.

They don't have stim in this game because every upgrade is unique to its unit.

[up][up]On the topic of that, why didn't Marauders have them in the campaign? Kinetic Foam is really lame. Why?

Also, cant you use that Toss research to make it so that armor upgrades add extra life?

Man, Whispers of Doom put me in a false sense of security for the Protoss missions: compared to that A Sinister Turn is surprisingly difficult.

"Hey, this is presumably your first time getting used to Protoss units, so we're give you an already made base. Cool, right? Then, we're gonna have you at war with a constantly respawning superpowerful hero unit, who will attack your base every... minute and a half or so. And he'll be coming with waves of units of rapidly increasing strength, which will attack you roughly twice as often as he does. Oh, and he can immobilize most if not all of your army allowing his mooks to destroy them and your base, and is guaranteed to take out at least a few of your expensive units that take a long time to make, so you'll probably be spending all your time replacing the units that you lost and not actually building an army. Oh, and this isn't a defensive mission, you're expected to destroy his base. That's good, right? No? Well fuck you! Muhuhuhuhahahaha!"

Honestly, it feels more like a survival game than an actual mission. If you don't build multiple Gateways in practically the first two minutes of the game (which I forgot to do, forgetting that not only do the Protoss units generally take twice as long to build as Terrans, but they don't have reactors either) you're screwed down the line. Heavily. Unless you instead presumably built a solid wall of Photon Cannons (which I swear are less effective this time around) to stop intruders.

Business as usual. I'm getting flashbacks to Brood War... man, the Protoss really make me miss medics.

Of course, you could always cheat. Now that I think about it, I wonder if the second stage of the game (the attacks) only kicks in after you do the initial "power up the base" spiel. If so, that's a massive oversight, because one could theoretically amass an army before the mission actually starts.

When my brother tried the Hard achievement for that mission, he failed the time limit by less than a minute. That sucked.

Oh yeah, I forgot there was also a time limit, since they don't actually tell you how much time you have. Urgh.

Oh, there's an achievement for speed. Ok.

For a second I thought there actually was a requirement to save the Preservers before "it's too late," as Zeratul put it.

[up][up][up][up][up]In my first play though, I never beat that. I just build a lot of photon cannons. And gave up. I already has max Toss and Zerg research anyway, and didn't care for the extra money.

The preserver mission was really easy, you just need to mass Zealots, Stalkers, Immortals, a Dark Templar or two, and A High Templar to use Feedback to take a lot of hp off of Marr and stop his teleporting.

Also, will you tell me your handle if I pm you? I'm interested in playing with another troper.

Ah yea, that'd be the only one of the abandoned buildings that's actually protected, right? My first play through I went there and my army was annihilated.

As I said, I'm going to remember to build another Gateway right off the bat this time, so I won't be struggling to rebuild my army to meager proportions every time the Hybrid attacks this time.

[up]Before you get a big army, build 8 or so cannons to kill Marr. Place 4 of them near where he attacks, and 4 faceing the south east base. He should teleport right form one group into another. 5 Zealots with level 1 weapons should also help.

Imo, cannons are a waste. Instead, just power up the robotics facility to the left of your base without wasting money on static D. Pump probes constantly and when you have enough income, stalkers constantly, prioritizng immortals over stalkers.
