I just bought the game and a PS 4.

I hate checkpoint systems, I really do. Made one little mistake clearing out the village where Miller is and I restart the checkpoint which drops me off outside the damn thing. Trying to redo everything I just did leads to me making new mistakes, leading to me getting frustrated, leading to me accidentally restarting the chapter when I'm seen behind a large rock.

So now I basically have to redo two sessions of the game. And now I'm confused because the game is telling me about supplies I've already collected...

Also, is there a way to murder unconscious enemies without kicking them in the balls, waiting for them to stand, then CQCing them down?

A gun, throwing them off high ledges, running them over with a car.

Oh really when?

Or if a river is nearby, put them face-down while unconscious, and they'll drown after a minute or so. Absolutely zero sound that way, and no trail of blood either.

Oh, and if you're hating the checkpoint system now, wait until you have to do the "Back Up, Back Down" mission (I believe it's the 8th one). Cause guess what, they decided to give you ZERO checkpoints throughout that sucker, meaning a single screw-up and you'll have to do the whole thing all over again!

Any idea what is with the credits before and after each mission? Was Konami planning on selling the game in chunks for $10 a piece or something?wink

Nah, it's just some weird stylistic thing Kojima wanted to do.

It was 50/50 Konami being stupid or Kojima being crazy. tongue

Also noticed that they aren't using real-world gear anymore. That's disappointing, always helped ground the series in reality...at least one foot in the real world while the rest of the body flops around with super-soldiers, mecha, ghosts, and fourth-wall breaking.

From what I understand it was both due to a bunch of the gun companies becoming more defensive and sue-happy regarding the use of their products in games, and also because of how you can make franken-guns out of various parts from other models. I'm guessing it's more of the prior, since even the Battlefield and COD games seem hesitant to use the correct names of the modern firearms.

That sucks.

Also, is there some way of picking up supplies at Mother Base without ordering it dropped on my head? Seems rather inefficient to launch a supply chopper instead of having a storeroom where I can pick it up. tongue

[up]But if you could just go to the supply room then what will all the people who work in the cardbox delivery department do to earn a living? You want to put them out of work this close to Christmas?

SgtRicko Since: Jul, 2009

Just wiggle your cursor a bit when it's asking for the delivery point, that should make it land somewhere else aside from right on top of you.

But otherwise? Sadly nope, you've gotta order your gear either during the loadout screen before missions, or during the missions themselves.

Oh, of course I don't have to drop it on myself, I just wasn't sure if there was a way to get it at base without ordering thrown via helicopter. Diamond Dogs needs to work on its efficiency.

Also, revenge >> Christmas.

Well, that was a mistake—I destroyed the generator in one of the villages I frequent, hoping to deny them their lights in the future. Trying to give me a better area to sneak around in only resulted in constant alerts every time I visit, as the broken generator is now being discovered every time I'm in the area and now the village never leaves medium alert.

Gotta use your smarts. They'll pick up on your antics real quick if you're not careful.

Though try leaving the area entirely and going back to mother base and hanging out for a while. They'll fix the generator eventually.

I figured they'd fix it and expected them to be on alert the next time I visited when they discovered it. Just not going on alert about four times after.

Yeah that is a bit weird. They always fixed it almost immediately and were totally normal when I visited them next.

But I always went back to Mother Base after every single op, even side ones, and never spent any extended period of time in the field.

Didn't notice one. Opps.

What happens if I get killed while playing somebody other than Snake? Because I have a shitty-ranked troublemaker and I'd like to get him killed in action. tongue

I mean, yeah, I could fire him, but he'll never learn to be a good soldier that way.

Also, D-Horse now has the power to shit. Why? Are Soviets easily distracted by a shitting horse?

Jeeps will slide in it and crash.

And they die for reals if they die in the field I think. Maybe. I know they die in FOB missions.

No, the soldiers won't permanently die during any of the singleplayer missions, only the online FOB invasions or defenses. And furthermore, if you're worried about losing them, just put them under a Direct Contract and they'll be impossible for the enemy to kill or kidnap. VERY handy when it comes to protecting your rarer R&D specialists and S+ ranked staff members.

Direct Contract soldiers also don't get perma deathed if used on a FOB invasion unless they patched that out.

Ever wondered what a cross-over between Neon Genesis Evangelion's EVA units and a Metal Gear RAY unit would look like? Wonder no further!
