There's a great moment in the Phantom Episode 51 where Snake leaves Eli with a choice: Take revenge on Snake with a gun loaded with a single bullet, or use that bullet to end his own life before napalm burns him to death. Even if he's a preteen, he was capable enough to take over an island and infect everyone with the Parasite. He was old enough to be responsible for his own actions, yet he kept blaming everything on Snake, on his genes, his fate. That's why David is his superior.

Something weird just happened to my game.

I booted it up, it doesn't connect to the server (fair enough, issues happen and I thought it could have been maintenance) and I go into the game - and for some unholy frigging reason, my GMP is in the red to the degree of 2 million.

I left the game with about 200,000 left, not a whole lot, but if the game wasn't online then none of it could have been taken.

So I try to connect to the servers, and hey - it works without a hitch. And look at that - there's my 200,000 GMP. I disconnected and reconnected to see if it'd happen again and it didn't.

...Along with the game keeping 28 BOAR trucks as online resources so I can't sell them, leaving me with three offline ones, that glitch has left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. It feels like the implication of that glitch is that my GMP goes to the servers and I get it back when I sign in, and I hate the thought of that.

Check your HM Gs and Mortars - pretty sure a ton of them went missing too.

I usually sell those off straight away, I wouldn't know if they were affected.

I take it that this is a widespread thing?

First, your shit can be taken if you're online.

Second, some of your money goes to your FOB now.

...Well fuck.

I guess I'm going to need to stay above 2 million GMP before logging off. This bugs the hell out of me.

Yep, seriously. She's got herself a Youtube channel, and she's about to reach the Quiet bossfight. Got a feeling she's gonna hate it though - while she's not a poor player and tries to stick to sniper rifles, most situations for her seem to eventually devolve into total shootouts. The "Angel with Broken Wings" mission had her stuck for quite a while.

I just had the best FOB run ever.

I tend to rob Base Development platforms because they have the most resources, and I was going through one - to the point of fultoning the brown resource-laden containers - when the player spawned in.

I managed to snipe him with a tranq dart from the bridge, ran up to him with the UN-ARC and only just killed him first, before I hid from the alert by going up above the core section, dropping down onto a vent and waiting right next to the door as he respawned.

I managed to steal over 10,000 Fuel Resources among others, and I actually made it into the core section without being spotted again. That's the first time I ever bested a player on their own FOB.

I once killed a player in his own base no less than four times, two times he actually had to drop on me and I had to wake myself up and then kick his ass.

Unfortunately the entire thing devolved into a massive shootout on top of his R&D core and the rest of his security team overwhelmed me.

Still feel good about it though.

Incidentally, how do people leave the FOB Brig?

I got some guys from Mosquito a few days ago but couldn't do anything with them.

EDIT: I personally don't really want to invade the FOBs of other players because I don't especially want to contribute to Konami's system more than I have to.

I mean, I guess I might, to get that thing about the nukes.

But I don't particularly want anyone to spend real money on FOB insurance because of me.

I have a rule that I only invade people as retaliation.

And Mosquito. Poor poor Mosquito.

I captured Mosquito back when his mission happened.

There's something fun about him invading his own base and kidnapping his own guys.

But yeah, the S++ guy I got for doing that event invasion thing was still in the FOB Brig when I left for work this morning and. I dunno if he'll be out when I get back, or if I need to do something or what.

Yeah all mine are in the brig too. I dunno what their deal is.

I play to kill time mostly, but when it comes to Base Development Platforms, I am a greedy and underhanded bastard.

My FOB insurance is having one or two platforms to defend as opposed to six or seven.

There's also a thing happening at the moment, according to the noticeboard thing. Having 5 consecutive successful FOB infiltrations apparently guarantees some alright prizes.

I mainly just think it's fucked up that Konami stands to profit from pitting us against each other, from making us afraid of each other. Every player, on every console and every system.
