Spore Patch/Install Help

Hey peoples, I need a bit of help. I should've asked here a while ago - from experience I've found that here there's always at least one person who knows about something - but hey, better late or never.

Anyway, here's a run down of what happened:

  • I tried to patch a perfectly running Spore - back then I was using Mac OS X 10.5.7 or something: this was the first patch years ago - the patch messed up, internet was cut off during it, and after that the game simply would not patch any more.
  • I tried fixing the problem by uninstalling (removing Spore Creations and documents folders) and reinstalling the game, only to find that the game would not reinstall fully - it always stuck right before finishing and never finished.
  • On suggestion I tracked down as many files I could find for Spore and deleted them. No change.
  • On suggestion I installed App Cleaner, but as I had already uninstalled the game it was kind of useless, since I had no app to drag into the program. No change, obviously.
  • I got a new laptop, but forgot that Time Machine would bring over my old problems as well as all my old files. So no change, of course.
  • Yesterday I found a .xml file I overlooked by searching "Spore," can't quite remember where it was, but I Recycling Bin'd it. No change.
  • Today I found out I had to also delete my Spore Preferences, which didn't show up in search. Deleted then an hour ago. No change.

I'm past frustrated now. The only reason I'm still doing this is because I really liked this game - all those steps were interspersed with long periods of me just giving up on the game and coming back months later to try again in vain.

Can anyone give me any help whatsoever at this point? Right now I'm using 10.6.6, if it will help at all...

Would uninstalling my Time Machine stuff help?

Maybe looking up how to uninstall securom might help.

FFFFFFFFFF-

Looks like uninstalling Securom will screw up my copy of The Sims 2. Fantastic.

I don't hate it, I don't even care about it, I just need to remove everything related to Spore from my computer so I can reinstall the game.

I also can't find it on my computer, or anything residual that I might need to remove at all, so that point is moot, apparently. Oy...

Y'know what's hilarious? I had very long ago just given up hope on this, figuring that whatever residual files left were insignificant and thus outside the radar and, thus, I would never be able to remove them. Figured there was no use crying over spilled milk, since I probably wouldn't ever see what I'm looking for anyways.

So now today I install Bitdefender and I'm current watching it scan through thousands of Spore application files that my computer pretends doesn't exist.

Hardy har har. Screw you my Mac.

By any chance do you know where those files were located? I can't reinstall until I get rid of the already deleted spore.

Contacting EA might help. I was able to get around the limited number of installs when I explained the situation to them (that I was trying to re-install it on the same PC).

that's not the issue, unfortunately. my version of spore was 1.04 or something similar. Now when I try to reinstall an older version it claims I need to uninstall the current one. The funny thing being I deleted that ages ago. So now I'm trying to hunt down whatever file is it doing this.

I went into appdata and found a few files in the roaming folder. Not all of them though. -sigh-

W00t! Installing now.

Okay so my process: for windows 7, at least.

search for spore, delete anything related to it.

search through your % appdata % (without spaces) for the spore stuff there, delete it. Now you'll need to enable hidden folders, you'll need to find

C:\Program Files (x86)\Install Shield Installation Information

somewhere in there will be the spore installer. Once you click on that you can unistall everything so in theory

THE SIMPLE WAY! MAYBE!

enable hidden folders, find

C:\Program Files (x86)\Install Shield Installation Information

hunt for your spore folder, click on there, find the setup button, use that baby to uninstall spore, send it into the sun and you can now start off fresh.

and now it's too late to enjoy it
