While I find the Conservatives' statements regarding AV laughable, this is an ad hominem, and no more relevant than the aforementioned baby.
Welcome To TV Tropes | How To Write An Example | Text-Formatting Rules | List Of Shows That Need Summary | TV Tropes Forum | Know The StaffIt's politics, ad hominems are fair play.
Requiem ~ September 2010 - October 2011 [Banned 4 Life]Such an English thing to say: highly odd, or extreme.
If you don't like a single Frank Ocean song, you have no soul. And that is one of the many reasons why politics is so fucked up.
Am I to take it that NOT PARTICIPATING in such ad hominems is not an option for you?
Ad Hominems are used in politics to distract people from the fact that your arguments are weak. There is no other reason to use them than having weak arguments.
To be fair, it's also damned funny. Especially when it's taking the piss out of that shiny-faced tory dimwit that we reluctantly call PM.
But yes, AV is a crawling, halfwit compromise, offered in place of proper Proportional Representation. On the one hand, voting for it could send a message that people want a different system to the current one; on the other hand, we may never get PR even if we get AV.
Although if we do get PR, it might just make up for the rather disgusting FaceāHeel Turn of the lib dems.
I genuinely like AV. One can have a whole debate about Proportional Representation but it's simply not in this. This is "Like FPTP but without Durveger's Law", "Like FPTP but with the ability to express your true political leanings before you settle for making a decision between a douche and a turd". Like the current system but with a specific, deliberate improvement.
I still say I like the idea of being able to 'antivote' - if you don't know who to vote for but you do know who you don't want getting into office, you can make your vote an 'antivote', which will count as -1 vote.
Granted, it's fundamentally flawed and it's probably unworkable, as well as being contrary to the spirit of the thing. But it appeals to my sense of spite.
PRESIDENT CLEGG
Oh dear. Firstly, that reminds me of this◊.
Secondly, I wonder if those David Cameron poster guys have made a new exploitable for this?
I see the no campaign's started playing the Clegg card, then. It was only a matter of time.
I also support AV. It would be a great improvement on the current system, because like has been already said, it at least gives you a chance to get your voice heard if you don't support one of the main parties. Under the current system, if you're in a party's safe seat then a vote for any other party is effectively a waste, which it would be nice to do away with.
Yes. I wholeheartedly agree.
