Doraemon

All the episodes up to 2009 (I think) have been dubbed into Spanish with the original Japanese score. I'll try to look for one of these episodes which is also in English so we can check it out. I know most of the original anime's soundtrack by heart (made by Shunsuke Kikuchi), but I don't know about the new one.

EDIT: I've tried to look for similar titles in Spanish to those in English, but I haven't found the same episodes so far (for example, I've found a "memory bread" episode which is different to the one in English). It's possible that the episodes which are being aired in Disney XD are newer than the ones I have access to in Spanish. If anyone could tell me of what the original Japanese titles of the English episodes are, I'd be able to help.

Is Dan Green in any of these episodes? IMDB and wikipedia isn't telling me. I swear, two or three stand alone characters sound like him like The criminal who was going after the bomb.

I had already checked this episode yesterday, but the beginning was different. Now I know why: the original episode starts with Doraemon leaving and Nobita having a flashback to the day he came, while the English episode skips to the flashback, in order to have an "origin episode".

(btw, ignore the first BGM you hear when you skip to 2:25, since it's used as a transition between the present and the flashback)

Doraemon is STILL First place in Japan's BO!!!

Its been there for 3 WEEKS! I didnt know Doraemon was THAT beloved and popular. Now I really want to see this movie.

Does anyone did any comparison between the English dub and the original version?

Anyway, I liked the voices for the character. Not so much with the changes though.

Yeah the casting was top notch. Thank God for small favors.

I hope they dubbed the Stand By Me movie without censorship.

What needs to be censored?

From what I've been reading about this series, in it's past iterations, Big G is apparently a friend to some manner of degree to Noby.

But in the one I've been watching on Disney XD (finally), he seems to be a complete dick. He doesn't feel very likable.

I wonder why they did that.

Nobita's relationship to Gian and Suneo has always been a Vitriolic Best Buds one. Gian may have a short temper and poor impulse control, but he's always considered Nobita a friend; and when push comes to shove, Gian often proves himself to be a loyal and courageous soul who would never hesitate to stand up for his friends and helpless innocents.

Admittedly, Gian's more positive traits display themselves more prominently in the specials and movies. Your usual episodic short stories often has Gian play the antagonist to Nobita, that's why he comes off as more of a dick.

Mmm, I see.

Early this morning I saw the episode where he tries to get the other three to eat his abysmal cooking. He sure didn't sound very antagonistic there, aside from his thinly veiled threats of bodily harm should they (justifiably) object to his food. Hilarious how the Super Gourmet Spice works on ANYTHING, even him!

I actually thought that episode was funny, though I prefer the episode where they made art move.

So, does anyone has any question related to Doraemon? I've read most of Doraemon chapter in the past, so I will know most of them.

By the way, my least favourite character is Tamako. (You know, Nobita's mom.) She usually scolds Nobita (rarely Doraemon), even when they shouldn't be scolded.

Doraemon is 2nd Most Succesful in Sales for Viz Media.

Wow! This really is a surprise. It seems the Disney XD airtime did help it thrive. Sure being second in Sales for an anime company (Which is extremely niche) isnt a big deal. But still, now that I think about it, its beating all other properties that have huge appeal and prior succes like Bleach, Death Note and even Sailor Moon.
