AT-A Ts are meant to be that impervious in-universe, which helps them achieve their tertiary goal of being terror weapons (considering the Imperial Army/Navy are basically one big state terrorist organization, along with Intelligence and other security forces, this doesn't stand out). Barring air attack or concentrated infantry hitting their weak points (while not being killed by troopers or smaller vehicles) they can't really be damaged. Especially on open ground.

I remember they were really OP in one of the RTS games because they could spawn free Stormtroopers over the hard limit you had so Imperial players could swamp the Rebels etc in armor and free bodies while using their money to build other things.

Yeah, they were pretty tough in Empire At War. Until the expansion came out and gave a pack of criminals tanks that could easily slaughter them and that came in groups of three.

I will never not think that the Zahn Consortium isn't among the most stupid developments in the Legends EU.

It would have been better if they'd taken multiplayer into account. Someone should have said "Hey, all of these units are awesome but what about multiplayer? These seem kind of unbalanced!"

"Nah, it's fine, don't bother with anything else."

The entire concept of a previously unknown criminal organization being able to out guerrilla the Alliance and out fight the Empire was just nuts though.

Think we might get a third faction as DLC here? I mean I'm hoping VII doesn't just rehash the OT totally and not introduce any new factions or enemies.

This game is 100% the OT aside from the tie-in to VII, so probably not. Hold out hope for a PT game next year and a PT+OT game in two years.

I don't think we need a PT Battlefront game, it would be fine as DLC.

DICE promises that Battlefront will not be Battlefield with a Star Wars skin

Star Wars Battlefront is in development at DICE, the studio best known for its work on the Battlefield series. However, the developer promises that its legacy does not mean that Battlefront will simply be a Battlefield game with a Star Wars theme.

In an interview with The Guardian, DICE general manager Patrick Bach put to rest concerns about the upcoming game and its potential similarity to Battlefield. Battlefront does not have squads or deep loadout customization, nor does it have expansive environmental destruction, all features of Battlefield. Rather, Bach stated that the developer is focusing more on what made the first two Battlefront games great.

"We have a strong legacy with Battlefield, but we did not want this to be a Battlefield game," he explained. "We wanted it to have a heart and soul of its own. We came at it from a very different angle. We know that the core audience of a game like this is different to the Battlefield audience. There's a crossover, but Star Wars fans expect a Star Wars game, not a Battlefield game. We looked at what Star Wars stands for, rather than asking how can we tweak Battlefield to be something else."

Bach also said that the developer has been getting concerns about the game being not enough like Battlefield. After E3, however, those complaints went away: "We've had to accept the fact that people will be upset with us until they get to play it. And when people did play it at E3 almost all the negativity went away. We stayed true to what we believed in, and when people saw it, they got it, they agreed that this is a game on its own, it is not Battlefield, and they liked it."

Star Wars Battlefront launches on November 17 for Xbox One, Play Station 4, and PC. We were able to go hands-on with Battlefront at E3, and we came away impressed with both the co-op mode and the multiplayer mode. Recently, the developer explained that the game represents the foundation of the Star Wars films, rather than its expanded universe.

They've got a ways to go before they're actually in the spirit of what made both the first games good. They've got half of what made the first one good, but with just the Galactic Civil War and not the Clone Wars, they're only representing half of the non-EU franchise. Disney already nuked the Legends verse out of canon. I don't care about that. It's just cutting out the Prequel era stuff that gets irksome, and I'm sure they'll remedy that in DLC after the fallout settles.

I wonder if there will be bots in that mode. It looks like there's way too many fighters for each one to be a player.

Yes but I think I remember there being a bit in one article about it that there wouldn't be any bots in one mode, though that may not have been referring to Fighter Combat.

I've always liked the idea of a dogfighting multiplayer game where you could enter battle with AI wingmen and give them commands. The mechanic done in Blazing Angels is my Ur-Example.

Formation: AI Wingmen will cease what they're doing and regroup with the player.

Attack: Wingmen will attack enemy forces at will.

Protect: Wingmen will cease what they're doing and target any enemies targeting the player.

Selective Attack: Wingmen will stay in formation but will also attack any specific enemies the player themselves are attacking.

Tom Clancy's HAWX sort of has something like that but it's just attack enemies and defend you.

For some reason though I'm annoyed that squadrons apparently have more than 12 fighters in them xD

They do have a point. Nobody plays games like Battlefield or Call of Duty for the campaign.

Baloney. Not all of us have blazing fast internet. I play COD exclusively for the campaigns. I loved COD 4, and COD Ghosts was fun as hell. A bit racially awkward, but fun as hell.

Hardly. The campaigns in the first two games weren't anything special. Even the 501st campaign was just "Hey, remember all those cool battles from the movies? We were there!"
