Um, how are Bio Shock and Fallout3 love letters to D&D? I'm just curious how you came to this conclusion.

I said Fantasy WRP Gs, those are both Sci-fi and tend to be a tad more creative than Fantasy RP Gs.

Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!

Racing games. All you do is drive a car around at dangerously unsafe speeds while trying to avoid getting caught by the police or just go around a track repeatedly. While I'm sure that those games have a sizable fanbase, I just don't see the appeal.

Spoken by a man who's never played a racing game.

The appeal is in sweeping through the corners, slicing the apexes off as you go towards a higher time. It's utterly perfecting the rhythm of the track as each turn melds into one another. It's about jostling with a another racer for first place, braking just after he does, and zooming out away from him. It's about feeling every bump in the road as you soar to first place. It's about tuning your car to perfection, tweaking its every nuance till it is perfect. Its about the thrill of racing.

That, my friend, is what racing games—or at least racing sims—are all about.

Sports Games with Bad Multiplayer - Why mess up (or worse yet, take away) one of the reasons most people play them for?

RTS - In particular, ones where You Require More Vespene Gas. I don't mind making resources and then building stuff, but to have that just to make units that go off and skirmish other units that looks like two fish fighting just doesn't do it for me. Especially if the game in question is very abillity-lite.

Realistic Sports: I don't find the appeal in playing a real sport as a video game with the exception of Mario (WAY too much that won't happen in real life), being able to play during a storm (which you could do or just wait out the storm, or travel to where you CAN play it), or being able to use a celebrity (but if I wanna play with a star like Shaq or something, I'm gonna wait for a game he actually voices in and might be in a non-sports situation).

Realistic Shooters: Frickin' go to war if that's what ya want!

Realistic Racers: You see where I'm going with this. If you wanna race a real car, I don't blame ya, but I just dislike this genre for not incorporating fictional vehicles/characters in a real-world setting or not putting real vehicles in fictional settings (that last one of which would take some MAJOR licensing fees, possibly).

Enzeru: There's no real liscensing problems in putting real cars in fictional places, it happens quite a bit.

But the point of Racing Sims is to race real cars and see how they would really drive. Using fictional ones is against one of the basic tenets of Racing Sims.

Sports, simply because I dislike the multitasking involved in controlling a team and the lack of escapism.

[up]Same. I just can't get a thrill out of them.

Quothe Yahtzee, "I tend to think something's wrong with a genre where you can spend decades learning every little nuance of the gameplay and still get beaten by a kid whose just randomly mashing buttons." That and nobody but Capcom and SNK have ever designed worthwhile fighters.

Hahahahano. To both of those. If you're beaten by a kid who's randomly mashing buttons, then you suck and cannot block.
