We may have additional treats on the horizon, but let's not get too Greedy....

Yeah, I'm guessing that it's hinting at the Greed dimension that Treasure Goblins are supposed to come from. No major deductive leap there.

[up][up] I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic, and if you aren't, I'm not sure that I understand your logic. "I admit that it's too good, but if you don't think it should exist, don't use it. Let the rest of us have our OP passive." Really?

That particular justification comes up often enough that it should probably get its own designation as a game design fallacy or something.

Even non-competitive games are defined by their restrictions as much as by their freedoms, especially online ones. And any logic that could justify a literal 'I win' button probably isn't going to do that great as a guiding tenet in a real product.

Furthermore, I think Guantanamo must be destroyed.

People get attached to things, not everyone's a (possibly wannabe, like me!) game designer that cares about holistic implications.

Back to the first page with ye, thread!

Patch 2.1.0 Preview: The Vault. It seems that we'll get a chance to visit the mysterious realm that the Treasure Goblins disappear to. Randomly. when you kill a Goblin, its portal will remain open, and you'll get to enter the realm of Greed. Untold wealth awaits inside, presided over by The Baroness, a goblin of truly vile proportions and predilections.

So I've been playing again. I decided to take part in the Early Access for a new game on Steam called Ziggurat. It's an FPS masquerading as an ARPG, and after about a week of it I felt the need to play Diablo III again.

Went though Act V as my Witch Doctor, and then decided to start a new play through as a Crusader. It's been fun. As soon as I got to the Highlands my Battle.net connection died, and does so every time I try to play. Now I feel the need to hurt someone.

Had an idea for a class for Diablo IV. In keeping with the tradition of Creepy Good, Dark Is Not Evil player characters established by the Necromancer and the Witch Doctor, I think the next full game should have a Black Knight class of some sort as an opposite to the Paladin and Crusader from II and III. Perhaps with the growing disillusionment with the Angels some folks are questioning whether the whole Dark Is Evil is a crock of shit. Maybe someone figured out that Dark has no connection with elemental Evil at all, and saw it as a perfectly valid alternative to the Light. Perhaps a DPS/Mezzer class of some sort, with the power of fear, illusions, and darkness to confuse and misguide enemies? A connection to sleep, and therefore dreams? Death, therefore some of the Spirit powers of the Witch Doctor?

I think the devs have said that D3 will be the last in the series, but there's no stopping them from putting stuff in the next expansion if and when it comes out.

Still, they've already got two Str, Dex and Int classes, so I'm not sure about a seventh.

The reason Battle.net doesn't work, I believe, is because Blizzard got hit with a DDOS attack, as did a bunch of other things.

Yeah, the whole service was having issues over the past day or so.

There's nothing in the plot of Diablo III or Reaper of Souls that completely rules out another game. Diablo could possibly return for Round 4 if Blizzard wants to go there. They'd have to think up some new plot device to focus the story on other than the soulstones, but that's less relevant than whether they intend to do it at all.

As it stands, the "Nephalem have been unleashed on the world" plot may take precedence over the Eternal Conflict plot. That's clearly what Tyrael's speech at the end of RoS is intended to make us think. It could be a red herring, but we just won't know until Blizzard talks, some time down the road. At the moment, they seem content to tweak and expand on 2.x.

I just got crushed in a Level 16 Greater Rift, which was populated largely by Corrupted Angels and Exarchs. For those who don't recall, the Corrupted Angels have inherent 75% damage reduction, both they and the Exarchs can perform knockbacks, and the elite packs I fought all had Vortex. Twas not fun.

I'm looking forward to giving it a go tonight, given that leapquake got buffed a bit (Earthen Might passive works again, and Earthquake itself does more damage).

Well, good luck with that. Battle.net is under heavy DDoS attack right now and may not be up for a while. At least, that's what is suspected.

Unless I'm thinking of something else, Corrupted Angels only resist one element at a time, and switch to whatever you hit them with first. So if you use your weakest element first you can finish them off pretty easily with your main element. It's a bit easier said than done, but I assume that was the intended strategy.

With the stacking of elemental bonuses, I'd wager the majority of builds will brute-force them.

No, I'm pretty sure you notice them taking 4 times longer to kill. You probably just assumed they were tankier than they actually are. They're actually quite squishy compared to most other enemies of the same size; maybe you'd be surprised if you hit them with another element first. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Possibly. I do end up just pulling tons of enemies to maximise AOE; they get lost in there.

I go for single-element builds most of the time, so it's hard to "switch".

Do the Corrupted Angels gain immunity based on the first thing you hit them with, or do they choose it?

Because if it's the former, I know why I haven't noticed it: Leap still does physical damage (I forget that Leap damage is a thing, because of how little it does).

Farmed up about 8 trial keys last night, also got a well-rolled Raekor's pants (which I didn't have) and a better Focus than the one I already had. Now spending blood shards on shoulders, to try for a revamped Vile Ward.

Will dive into a greater rift tonight.
