That said, it has good wiks, it has good inbounds, it seems to be used right from what I can tell, but it could really use something search engine friendly to help find it.

I'm gonna have to disqualify myself from playing along, seeing that I already know exactly what the trope is.

I will say, however, that its good wicks, healthy inbounds, and lack of apparent misuse (already noted in the OP) would be good enough to rule out a need for a rename. Redirects should be all that is needed to suffice.

I won no cookie. The title gave me no information whatsoever.

Thinking strictly from a search point of view, how about Actor and Character Share Name as a redirect. People search for actor, character, name and get it — right?
