"Well I couldn't come back to conventional way. So I made a bargain with some...undesirables and was able to cross over on the day when 'the wall is at it's weakest'. The 1st of April. Of course do to the nature of that day there were some...side-effects."

Psyche nods. ~I see.~

"Sooo...I'm a cowboy now..."

He awkwardly drags on.

"...and I heard the news."

"...I'm...sorry."

Luke: "Alright, to sum things up-"

Luke glanced down at the list he had made as Izzy stuffed her face with various berries he'd given her from his bag.

"You're a species of Pokémon called a Helioptile. You're a native of the Kalos region, you're a duel Electric and Normal type, you know the moves Quick Attack, Mud Slap, Charge and...something called Parabolic Charge?"

Izzy paused to nod at Luke, various juices staining her face.

Izzy: <Oh yeah, that's a fun one.>

Luke: "Right. And you say that eventually evolve into something called a "Heliolisk?""

She nodded again, wiping some juice off her mouth with the back of her hand.

Izzy: <Heck if I know how, though! It feels like I've tried florping everything! Leveling up, leveling up near other Electric type Pokémon, leveling up during the day, leveling up during the night, leveling up in the forest, leveling up in the sea...>

Luke gave her a blank look.

<...Don't worry, I can swim. Point is, I haven't figured it out yet.>

Luke: "Alright then. Now, do you mind if I ask you a potentially sensitive question?"

Now full up, Izzy leaned back on the bench, resting her head against her hands.

Izzy: <Fire away, big boy.>

Luke: "Okaaaaay. If you're a Kalos native, why are you here in Goldenrod?"

Glancing up at the sky absent-minded, Izzy sighed.

Izzy: <I used to live in Kalos, somewhere to the south. But then I was caught by a trainer.>

Luke: "Oh?"

Izzy: <But, we didn't see eye-to-eye on most things. He eventually decided to come here to Johto, but when we arrived here in Goldenrod, we had a...disagreement.>

Luke: "...Oh."

Izzy: <You can figure out the rest. He kicked me out, I wandered around until I found my buddy Lake. Life was good, but then he got taken away, and...well, I've spent the past thirteen years in Johto.>

Lake - who was sitting next to the lizard - glanced down at her.

Lake: <Did you stay in Goldenrod?>

She shook her head.

Izzy: <Naaaah, I traveled quite a bit. Saw all the sights. Olivine Harbor, Tin Tower, the Lake of Rage. Not the Ice Path, though. Too cold.>

Lake: <I'll say.>

Izzy: <Goldenrod was kinda' my home, though. So I always gravitated back there after a while.>

Luke: "Didn't any other trainers try to catch you?"

Izzy met this question with a dismissive wave of her hand.

Izzy: <They tried. But I was always too quick for 'em. Even if living in the wild was hard, it was still preferable to being with a trainer.>

Luke: "...Oh."

Lake: <Oh...>

Psyche nods. ~I am too.~

Des looks in Psyche's eyes, seeing a hint of sadness.

"I...wasn't every close to Her-Lucius. Or anyone for that matter."

"....Y-you probably wish it was him standin' here instead of me, don't you?"

Psyche clears her throat. ~Like I said, not the ghost I was hoping to see.~

"...At least you're honest."

He sits down with a huff and takes out a bit of jerky, eating it. Jovi (that's the Rapidash) snorts before trotting off and grazing.

After a few awkward minutes Des finally speaks up.

"...I'd switch places if I could. Y'know that right?"

~You seem to want to tell me a lot of things, but I don't really know you that well. Why me?~

Goldenrod

Dune: ... Wow.

Deziree: This game looks AWESOME.

-Dune and Deziree are watching a certain trailer for a certain new Intellectual Property for an old game company.-

Dune: I have to say, considering how cynical things look around here, that's... quite the uplifting message.

-Deziree grabs Dune by the collar and brings him close.-

Deziree: I want to make that warp harness Tracer has.

Dune: ... Okay. Just so long as we're referring to that Tracer and not the Tracer that I used to hear Tagg talk about.

-Deziree just gives Dune the stink eye.-

"I'm a vagrant. It's what I do. People can't really gauge where I'm gonna pop up or when I'll disappear. I guess the best way to answer your question is that you're here, and you're willin' to listen. I had somethin' to get off my chest and I and to tell it to somebody."

He takes another bite of jerky.

"The fact that you're easy on the eyes didn't factor into it, but it was a nice bonus."

Olivine

-Jason flops on the sand, a Mineral Badge now in his badge case.-

Jason:That...that took longer than needed...

Grim:<Yes, since you forgot Doxon was weak to steel...and they can't be poisoned!>

-Jason flails.-

Jason:Nyeeeegh! Hush! It was a lapse in memory!

-Grim facewings.-

Grim:<Even if it did almost cost->

Jason:Nu...hush...arg, fine, where to next...

-Takes out map, unrolls it.-

Mahogany...to get there...through Ecruteak...and East...got it.

-Looks at the horizon.-

Hm...do I have the time, or should I risk it...

Goldenrod

-Maria and Lane? They exist. What of it?-

~Careful cowboy, I have a girlfriend.~

"Just a bit 'o teasin' is all. No harm in that, right?'

He finishes his jerky then picks himself up and brushes himself off. He produces a piece to Psyche.

"Wanna try?"

Psyche has already taken the jerky and eaten it by the time he finished his statement. ~Thanks. Jerky isn't the best for you, but it tastes good.~

Des blinks a few times, a bit dumbfounded.

"...Right. Um..."

He bashfully looks a the ground and kicks at the dirt.

"Could I...ask you a favour?"

~Ask away, won't promise to help, but I will listen.~

"Ok, well...don't tell anybody I'm back, ok? Some of them already know I'm back, but I can trust them to not tell."

"It's just, I'd hate to see or hear how people would react to 'that scruffy Rocket guy' bein' back right after a friend who has literally been through everythin' with them just died. You understand my concern?"

~Understood.~

Lake: <Look, Izzy.>

Hopping off the bench, the Feraligatr crouched down in front of it so that they were at eye level.

<I feel so bad for just leaving you like that! Especially since I left you to have such a rough life while I've been all over the world, and beyond.>

With a sigh, he gazed down at the floor sadly.

<Even after I said we'd be best pals forever...>

That was soppy. But Izzy couldn't help but feel touched. Crawling over to Lake, she gently patted his snout.

Izzy: <I won't sugarcoat it, Kiddo. When I found out you were gone, I was hurt. Badly. Both mentally and physically since your Mom tried to take a bite outta' me after I asked her where ya'd gone.>

Luke winced at the thought.

Luke: "That's Deluge for you."

Izzy: <But...>

Lake: <No! No, I get it.>

Lake stood up and turned away, sniffling a little.

<I understand that you don't want to be friends with me anymore. Sniff. I'm just glad that we had the chance to->

Izzy: <Hey, HEY! Will you let me finish?>

Quick as a flash, Izzy jumped onto the crocodile and scaled all the way up to his face, looking straight into his eyes.

<So then, you turn up all this time later, all big and strong and even a little bit shiny -Seriously, how'd ya' do that? And I found that even, after all that, you still didn't forget about me? Well...>

She gave the sad croc a smile.

<Anymon would be lucky to have a best buddy like that.>

Sniffling some more, Lake wiped his eyes.

Lake: <So, you forgive me? We're still friends?>

Izzy: <Yes, and yes.>

Lake smiled, but hesitated slightly before asking his next question.

Lake: <You wanna' join Luke's team and go everywhere with me?>

Izzy knew that question was coming. She paused for a few seconds, glanced at Luke - who was now literally on the edge of his seat waiting for a response - then back at Lake.

Izzy: <Well he must be good if you're willing to put up with him, so->

She didn't need to say anything else, the two was already celebrating.

Lake: <YEAH! YEAH!! YEEEEEAH!!!>

Luke: "WOOOOOOOOO!!!"

Izzy: <Hey, CUT THAT OUT!>

"Ok. One more thing..."

He whistles to Jovi. She snorts and reluctantly trots over. Des starts to riffle through some saddle bags.

"These days I find I got a lot of free time on my hands. Unfortunately I can't actually wear it myself. You wouldn't know someone who would be interested in this, would you?"

He pulls out a dress.

(A certain intellectually inclined Sneasel is fiddling slightly with her latest creation. At first glance, the creation in question doesn't actually look unusual at all, being a camera that appears to have come from the late Sixties, maybe the early Seventies at most.)

Psyche takes the dress. ~I think I might be able to find someone who'd wear this, yes.~ She begins thinking of alterations she'd make.
