Does anyone have any suggestions for the first member of the Elite 4? My journey would be pre-Red, so Blue isn't the Champion. I figure that Blue beat Lance, bumping everyone in the League down one spot. Lance is Champion, Agatha is 4th, Bruno is 3rd, Lorelei is 2nd, but I need a first. Karen, maybe? Or someone else?

Bulbapedia says the entrance is at the Southern Exit to Route 14. Nothing about any HMs.

Okay, I've narrowed it down to Oak, Fuji, and Baoba (the Safari Warden).
Oak: Pro. He's Samuel Friggin' Oak! He's AWESOME! Con. He's Samuel Friggin' Oak. He's super-important, and would probably be Champion if he was in the League.
Fuji: Pro. Experienced trainer, knows a lot about Pokemon. Con. No idea what type he would train.
Baoba: Pro. Badass, could train Ground-type. Con. Does he really make sense as an E4 member?
Votes? I wouldn't ask so much, but I'm basically establishing a huge element of our world's canon if anyone wants to use that time period again.

If you pick Baoba, he should have Pokémon you only find in the Safari Zone. Chansey, Kangaskhan and such.
Dunno about Fuji, though. Marowak, Gengar, maybe Snorlax?
