As far as alternate universes, I can't say I don't feel the same way sometimes.

...But I don't think that's all there is to the universe. I don't know what he's up to these days. I hope he's found some happiness, instead of still being bitter all the time. And I think, no matter where he is in life, he should get a chance at finding a new path. And then, like...there's that creepy ghost version of me running around, and she's from another world too. And another Tangent, and they both seem to be happy.

I'll be just as happy if I never have to spend another second outside of our universe. But I think that, for every version of me who feels the same way, we have a duty to try and stop Mobius from finishing their plan.

-Long after everyone else has gone to bed-

It's been by my count about two weeks since New Year's Day, and no one's tried getting in contact with me. Is that what I am, just a tool when I'm around only to be put aside and forgotten when I'm not of direct use?

Traveling with Channah's been nice, for some reason she hasn't left despite the fact that I attract murderous trouble like a magnet. At the same time though... I'm kinda worried. Ultra Beasts are one thing... but I wouldn't be surprised if my enemies know I'm not with the J-Team, and are currently wondering why that is.

I know little bird and her mons can handle themselves in battle when they have to, they proved that with the Stakataka back in the Grey Ruins, and Elysana's rent-a-thugs today, but I couldn't live with myself if her or anyone else got hurt by Tokarev or Iron or any of our other enemies coming for me out of some stupid belief that traveling without the J-Team as backup means my mons and I are far less dangerous. In all honesty I'm surprised that with this rift business we haven't seen any Mobius guys skulking around, but it's easier to keep a low profile when you're traveling with only one person.

...Heh, Channah's right, I worry a bit too much about things that aren't immediately relevant when I'm supposed to be on vacation, but it's in my nature, I suppose, apathy's just not my thing...

-Looks through my texts in hopes of seeing something new, pointedly ignoring the J-Team group, before finding Blitz's text from last Wednesday-

Mordred is fast asleep along with Ponyta, while Artoria sits on the balcony of the room. 'Tis a windy night. Artoria's staring at her phone. It's open to her texts with Mason. A message remains, unsent.

Cecilia waddles up to her, sitting next to her. <You seem troubled.>

Artoria: "I suppose I am."

Cecilia: <Would it help you to share?>

Artoria: "I... I don't know."

Cecilia: <Well. You can share if you wish, otherwise I will simply sit here and provide company.>

Artoria: "... Thank you."

There is a long pause, in which neither speaks. Artoria occasionally looks down at her phone, and then out at the ocean.

Cecilia: <What sort of... device is that?>

Artoria: "It's a smart phone, it... well, it can send letters instantly to anywhere on the globe, it can search archives thousands of times the size of the greatest libraries, in combination with other devices in orbit around the Earth, it can pinpoint your location to tens of feet.>

Cecilia: <An impressive device, to be sure.>

Artoria: "... People mostly use them to look at cats."

Cecilia nods. <I see.>

There is a long silence again.

Artoria: "You said you taught someone, did you not?"

Cecilia: <I did.>

Artoria: "Hm."

Cecilia: <Any particular reason you ask?>

Artoria: "No, I... we simply have that in common."

Cecilia: <I suppose we do.>

Silas and Megan had entered the station and there he sat, black suit, big grin, and surprisingly not in one of the cells.

"...Oh my Arceus I can see why this happened."

Giovanni Sage waved hello, his secretary looking a bit worried, "Sir... are you sure this is the right idea?"

"He can explain everything! And so that's what you look like in this dimension."

A officer came over and said to Silas, "He insists that he knows you and isn't the Team Rocket leader... despite current evidence to the contrary..."

"Well... since he knows me... I can tell you he's not."

"That's not exactly evidence towards innocence, for all we know you could be in on it."

"Trust me... he's not Giovanni of Team Rocket, He's... well it has to deal with all the portals everywhere. He's just some business guy who has the unfortunate circumstance of looking like Giovanni."

The officer looked him over, "The fact that he doesn't know what Team Rocket is-" "Sounds like Rocket Records" "-And the fact that his secretary has vouched that this is all a misunderstanding complete with papers and records..."

The officer sighed. "Fine. He can go. But if he breaks any laws... he's going right back in."

"Officer I promise that if he was with Team Rocket, he wouldn't be trying to get some random trainer to break him out, he'd probably have an entire legal team or would be trying to get his grunts."

The officer sighed and told them to get out.

Upon stepping outside, "GOOD TO SEE YOU AGAIN!"

Silas almost jumped, anyone with Giovanni's face should not have this much energy and enthusiasm. "So this is your world huh! Impressive, if a bit low tech. Gonna be awhile before anyone can build a big business empire out here."

Silas just blinked, "Okay... so Megan... meet Giovanni Sage of Rocket Records, aka the guy responsible for that merchandise you saw earlier."
