The ball bounces against Omega's frame, he looks down at it, then back up, "I've been hurt but I'm not out yet. I don't see what this wi-"

He's then sucked out of the robot body into the ball.

-Lucius looks between Sholto and Ever, still seething.-

Lucius: ...I'm having a hard time trusting anyone right now. Especially if they're dead-set on defending the worst amongst us.

Michael: <You use that to throw Kane's yarn balls, too?>

-He screams like a banshee.-

Aurora: <Aw hell.>

-She and Selena teleport away.-

Ever: Well, I suppose the vote of confidence was too much to hope for. Look, he's hardly the only repurposed Cipher operative we've got working for us. That guy...the one who looks like Jacob. What's his name again?

Muninn: <Verax Lakirid.>

Ever: Thanks, you murderous little encyclopedia. Anyway, it's not that I like having them around, but...I'm not about to kill someone if they're not trying to kill me. And if we don't keep an eye on them, I'm sure someone with worse motives would be happy to.

Unova Route 5

-Lucius's expression somehow darkens further, yet when he speaks again, it is in tones almost as level as Ever's.-

Lucius: ...So, we're working with Cipher now, huh?

Sholto: <...Lucius, I thought you'd have learned with your dad that people can change. I know that you shouldn't trust everyone, but grudges are a pain, I've learned that myself. Now can you just listen to someone and->

-He hears the thing about Cipher- <What the fuck, dude? I worked for Cipher and...>

-He shakes his head- <This isn't gonna get anywhere healthy.>

-He turns his head in a seemingly random direction away from Lucius- <Maul, take me away?>

Ever: ...

I wonder if Zekrom would forgive me if I just knocked him out now and had Breeze wipe his memories.

-he decides against this course of action, because it's incredibly morally wrong-

Ever: Making use of ex-Cipher, yes.

Unova Route 5

Maul: ~Certainly.~

-He and Sholto disappear with a blip as Lucius glares daggers at Ever. For a moment, he looks ready to scream with anger, but ultimately his words are as calm and cold as before.-

Lucius: ...Alright, then. Just wanted to make sure which side you guys were on.

-He turns and begins walking away.-

-Pent gives a curt nod at the metal and ink construct-

-for a second, Ever says nothing-

-this impulse is very quickly conquered-

-there's the sound of feet. Ever being significantly taller than Lucius, he presumably catches up without much difficulty, which is fortunate because he takes a little longer to gather himself to speak. Even when he does, his voice is shaking, though the exact emotion in question might be difficult to place, especially now that Lucius is no longer Aura-sensitive-

Ever: You're not the only person who was hurt by Cipher. You can't be the only one who makes the hard decisions. We have enough enemies as it is without turning down help, wherever it's coming from. I don't like it any more than you do, but I don't think we have a lot of options.

-if Lucius looks closely, he might notice that Ever is not, in fact, present-

-wait, he clearly is-

-except that he obviously is not-

-it's very confusing, and Ever doesn't seem entirely sure either-

Ever: ...

-a couple tears spill out-

Ever: I want you to think really, really carefully before you accuse me of working with Cipher again.

-Lucius stops and turns back to Ever. For a good few seconds he seems unsure how to respond, and when he speaks, his voice is also wavering with unclear emotion.-

Lucius: ...We have enemies, sure. Only now they're walking amongst the pack, looking for the first sign of weakness, waiting for the moment you look away. You might not like it... but you've let it happen. You and all the others.

Kane winces at the Perish Song.

"...Cheeky." His eyes narrow as Aurora and the rest flee.

He picks up the ball Omega is currently in.

"I expected more fight from you..."

C'mon, bust outta there...

The Ball cracks open and Omega flies out, attempting to grip onto Des's face <SOI SOI MOTHERFUCKER!!>

Sorry. I don't think you can go through life assuming you're the only one who knows whom to trust. Sorry. I just...it doesn't work. We've both put our faith in the wrong people before. You can't let it...keep you from putting faith in the right ones. I—

-Lucius looks at the spot where Ever was stood in equal parts contemplation and confusion.-

Lucius: ...

-He shakes his head, and keeps walking. In what direction, he couldn't tell you.-

Omega flies off and back into his robot body. It powers up in a instant and thwomps over to Kane, "Okay snag machine! Unfair!"

The arm cannons retract, and Omega fires boosters, he charges straight at Kane!

Kane is pushed back only slightly.

Kane:    ....>:|   

Kane hisses and starts to charge up a Flamethrower in his "belt", only to falter due to Perish Song.

Des stares blankly at the scene.

"...ehem...uh, yes, you passed the training exercise. Good. Good good good. Uh, the lesson here is that only suckers play fair. Yes, that sounds about right."

He returns Kane and turns to leave.

"I'll be contacting you soon."

-out of Lucius' sight, a whispered conversation-

Joe: But what do I say to him?

Thirtyjoe: Doesn't matter, you just need to talk to your friends again. Comfort them in times of need! Go on!

-Joe approaches, looking somewhat nervous and apprehensive-

-Lucius glances over at Joseph and surprise crosses his face, to be quickly overwritten by wary suspicion.-

Joe: Well something happened that makes you think something's up, but what would be up? Is there...?

-Lucius sighs, then looks away.-

Lucius: ...I don't know. I've been gone a long time. A lot's changed. Tides shift.

-He shakes his head.-

Lucius: Anyway. What have you been up to?
