But no, apparently the mon bombs saw fit not to grant any of them opposable thumbs. So all the reports are left to me. I had to learn Draconic for this. I swear, I'm an officer, I'm supposed to have grunts to take care of this kind of thing...>

-He finishes the last entry in a long list of draconic characters, before giving a sigh and standing up. He strides out into the main hall, where a nervous-looking Zoroark gives him an awkward salute.-

Zoroark: <Um, Captain Kirk, sir?>

Lucario Kirk: <At ease, soldier. And for the love of Arceus, just call me Kirk. We're barely even a legion any more, there's no need for ranks...>

-The Zoroark attempts to relax.-

Kirk: <Have we had any reports of unusual activity today?>

Zoroark: <No, sir.>

Kirk: <I figured as much. There's barely been any activity around this area for weeks. Still, we need to maintain patrols. Have we had any response to our request for formalisation so far?>

Zoroark: <Um... no, sir.>

Kirk: <What? I sent that report two weeks ago!>

Zoroark: <Well, we, um... there hasn't been any response from the dragons since the, erm->

-Kirk angrily slams his fist on a ruined desk, causing the Zoroark to jump backwards and cower slightly as Kirk's eyes flash orange.-

Kirk: <Damnit, we're supposed to be the Foreign Legion, for Arceus' sake! We've been operating out here for months now! We're at a fraction of our original strength, on half rations, holding some worthless city with no meaningful value whatsoever, and for what? They don't even have the dignity to treat us as dovah! We need supplies, reinforcements, anything!>

-Kirk continues to glower for a few seconds, eventually relaxing. The Zoroark nervously steps forward.-

Zoroark: <Erm... are you alright, sir?>

Kirk: <...I'm fine. Merely a little irritated, that's all. We were ordered to remain here, and we will do our duty. Soldier, you are dismissed.>

-The Zoroark scurries away, leaving Kirk to sigh and slump back into his desk, looking down at the report on his desk with an expression of weary resignation.-

Kirk: It'll all be worth it. One day things will change. One day things will get better. Until then... well, I can stop things from getting any worse, at least.
