I have to say... The fairies are adorable.

Also, for clerics, they're worth having for Boon of Switftness, as well. And exorcism. ESPECIALLY exorcism.

Working on "that class" as we speak.

That's one thing TO has over FFT: The AI isn't functionally retarded. No "charge headlong into combat that I more than likely won't survive" ala that certain rooftop battle in FFT, most anyone you need to rescue will head toward your forces (specifically your healers) or will heal themselves. And every so often, they'll hold their own if the opposition gets to them. (Hobyrim in Chapter 3? Cut up 2 guys, all the while making a beeline for my cleric. Smart for a blind old man.)

The AI is still awful. There's one mission on the chaotic path that is nigh impossible without a lobber due to how bad it is. There have also been multiple occasions where the enemies stunned more of their own allies than my characters.

The AI is... Weird. A lot of the time, it'll still run headlong into battle with no backup, seemingly intent on getting itself massacred. And then every once in a while, it'll show flights of brilliance.

For example, in one battle against a small number of knights backed up by some hefty magical artillery, the knights kept advancing a few steps, then backing up, trying to bait me into coming within range of the mages. This is in direct opposition to what I'd seen before - knights running headlong into the fray, practically begging to be picked off.

But somehow,

Maybe I've just been lucky. Only time I've ever had my own people hit is when I've done it. (Thank the fates I don't play this game around other people; kinda embarassing to find out a certain spell is a missile spell when it offs one of my own guys.) One of my favorite things to do is take all 8 of my dragons to Reisan Way, set their AI to melee, and watch the abject slaughter. Haven't lost anyone doing that yet.

That's because dragons have absurd natural HP and defense and most enemy units lack finishers or magic bombs.

Pretty much. Once you get ahold of dragons, your knights pretty much become 'Clerics, But Worse'. I've never had my Dark Dragon die on me, and he's one of my front-line units.

I can never use my Dark Dragon without also using my Arc Dragon.

I recruited them both from the same mission and they've been together ever since. Helps that I'm semi obsessed with the idea of balance when it comes to Light/Dark.

I sell all the other dragons I get. Frankly, the resources you get for doing so are more useful to me than the dragons themselves, especially since I already have a team of twelve that I don't really see the need to switch up (and I tend to get attached to my little ragtag group of death machines).

And it's not like I need the extra firepower. At this point, most of the fights wind up being Curb Stomp Battles.

Where's a good place to get Witch/Warlock classmarks? I got a witch early in Chapter 3, but she's semi-useless.

([Kornheiser] You wanna hear the list of draconic spells my witch knows?

Dodge Blades.

THAT'S IT, THAT'S THE LIST![/Kornheiser])

I figure, if I can change her into an enchantress, have her learn some elemental magic (Water? Fire? What's helpful when backing up golems?), then change her back, she'll be more than dead weight.

(I'm finally in Chapter 4, if that matters. Leveling up before I try and get a necromancer.)

Finally got to chapter 4 after much screwing around.

Denam's new costume is pretty badass.

[up]This is a series of games named in honor of a seventies band. I'd say it fits perfectly.

I HAVE A NECROMANCER! *dances*

And yet again, the AI has an IQ. Once I got her revived, she petrifed most everything in her path, all the while heading for my forces. (Which was a blessing and a curse; making statues out of the enemy did slow them down, but it also made it harder for my forces to maneuver.)

Now, off to Reisan Way to level her up whilst my dragons get their exercise.

A few things:

  • How does shooting someone with a flaming arrow CHARM them?

  • Six units vs two octopi, three dragons, three skeletons, and an imp? That is not fair...

  • Yesterday, I had one of the enemies attempt to stun two of my characters, and instead wound up missing both of them, and hitting two of it's allies. Which later wound up saving one of my characters.

a) It's magic, they don't have to explain it. b) Solution: Six dragons. NOW it's unfair......for them. cool c) So did I just get the lucky "non-stupid AI" version of this game?

1.But... Dark Weight causes leadened, Sleeping Shot causes sleep, and... Flaming Shot causes CHARMED?

2.Well, part of the reason I was there was to capture the dragons. Which I eventually did manage. I now have six dragons waiting to be turned into delicious steaks.

3.Apparently so, because the AI in my game borders on self-destructive.

1)Ever heard the term "a flame in my heart"? It's not an actual fire it's a metaphorical one(since fire and love are both equated to warmth).

I think once I beat the game I'm going through the new game plus deploying an entire team of generics, like with FFT.

So what are some of the skill setups you guys are using? I'm having trouble making up my mind. It seems Fortify and Strengthen, along with Truestrike/trueflight/spellstrike are a must for most classes. T Pup seems useless, I keep using up all the TP points before I reach the max 200.

How are the Parry and Deflect skills compared to stuff like Sidestep and Dodge?

I don't bother with the "accuracy" skills, and it hasn't hurt me much. Strengthen and fortify are MUSTS for any close combat specs. Oh, and with all your offensive magic users (Witches, Necromancers, etc), make them wizards, have them learn Meditate, then change them back to the magical class you wish them to be.

"Meditate doesn't give me much MP", you say? It's a skill that levels up. In time, it's worth the investment.

Oh, and with any throwing weapons or bows, if your target is out of your range, give the shot a shot anyway. Sometimes, they manage to make the shot.
