Nolan North does a lot of work to make Vashyron more funny and charming then what the script gives him.
Seriously great, underrated RPG though, I'm happy that the gang is showing up in Project X Zone.
All the outfits are unlocked just by playing through the game and powering the grids—some are in chests that pop up from particular hexagons.
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!I didn't even know this game existed until Project X Zone. And now I'm actually happy they're in.
I beat Caligua today...easier than Tar man and Tesla Tortoise IMO. And now it's a lot easier to get cocktails since the dwellest's dirty bags give you 5 a piece when broken down.
Be prepared to face the challenge that made me drop the game the first time around.
I can't even remember half of the bosses now. I remember the Tortoise and Tar Man, but then I can't remember any until the final set of bosses. Except Yeti, I just remembered that one.
Oh jeez, chapter 4 was a doozy. Those freakin sprites man...they take so long to kill. The room with the lvl 20 omega dudes were the hardest part, even moreso than the boss. The statue barely had any HP left when I was finished. But I beat it first attempt.
...
Oh no, I think it got stuck on the loading screen following the cutscene. I just hope it's taking long...I don't want to have to do that all over again.
The music is still going but it's not getting past he loading screen. It did this before too. UGHHHHHHHH DON'T LET THIS BE TRUE!!!

Wtf, this is so wrong. Rage...I just don't...ehghj...THIS IS SOOOO UNFAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The stuck loading screen or something else? (the statue mission itself? I got by it by blocking the path as long as I could.)
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!The stuck loading screen.
And second attempt, it's happened again, this time on the 3rd hex.
I'll try installing it. Maybe it'll do it less then...this really sucks.
Oh my god, now it won't even install. It says the disc is dirty or damaged hur hur message after a certain percent. Ugh WTF? I haven't even had this game a week yet and it's already unreadable? This is why I avoid used games when I can, because of crap like this. Infuriating.
Problem is, this game is hard to find new, or even used.
HOLY CRAP, NOW THE DUNGEON ISN'T LOADING AT ALL.,
NOW THE WORLD MAP ISN'T EVEN LOADING
Why do I have the worst luck with technology?
Seems like the disc was really warm when I took it out. I think there's an overheating problem here or something?
edited 21st May '13 12:19:48 PM by Vertigo_High
Okay I turned off my 360, took the disc out. Left it off for like 5 minutes, turned it back on...it's working perfectly. I think my fan somehow stopped working and that's what caused the disk drive to start overheating. It is hot today and about when the temperature rose is when this madness started.
Funny, this time I beat the dungeon easy and the boss went down in like 5 attacks. Easiest boss so far. That Omega room still gave me trouble though.
Argh, shit, I know the bit you're talking about. It's such a ballache. I took me at least three or four tries. I do remember that there was one room of regular mobs that was harder than the boss.
You know, once you get more than 3 bezels you really really start to kick ass.
Another thing about this game, the soundtrack is awesome. I love how every time you use a hero action, the music pumps up.
I wonder who did the soundtrack for this game? They did a great job. Nice variety of battle themes, they all have a great sound that flows with the action perfectly(I really like the forest path, boss battle, and tundra ones), and even the more peaceful themes like the shop theme are nice.
An interesting thing I noticed is that sometimes the AI changes their attack patterns depending on your actions. Like when I was in Dakota Vein fighting the frag dwellests, everytime I'd get all my characters on the boxes where they couldn't reach them(then just shoot them regularly until they die so I don't waste bezels) the dwellests would eventually start move out of my gun range until one of the party members jumped down. Of course you can use this to your advantage by putting one member on opposing boxes, effectively trapping them in a loop where they keep running back and forth between gunners.
BTW, those sledgehammers were a PAIN. They didn't do a whole lot of damage but jeez they took so long to kill. I didn't upgrade parts in cranktown like I should've so that's probably why Dakota Vein took me so long.
The soundtrack was done by 2 different composers the battle stuff was Motoi Sakuraba and all the rest was Kohei Tanaka
Motoi did the battle music then? I kind of hear it now.
I beat the yeti today, but died the first attempt. Freakin leanne crashed into the bunker wall mid-jump and it ended up ruining the entire fight for me. 2nd time she got frozen again but vash and zephyr were able to kill him before she got us in critical. Fight would've been easier if I had gotten more than one snow vest.
Huh, didn't know about Leanne's secret shirt codes. Weird. I finally got to fight the infamous helicopters and first time I did I ended up getting to critical state(vash lost half his health in one turn) and ended up running away. But then I figured out that it's best to take out their guns out first so they can't attack, take out the fatties, and then finish them off when there's no one left. They're actually pretty fun once you figure that out.
I also fought the two spider red bezel guys in chapter 6, having only vash/zephyr made it REALLY tough. I was dumb and didn't have grenades or medpac equipped(dual MG for vash and dual Hg for Zephyr) so when I ended up in critical since I couldn't heal...yikes. The first time I managed to get out of it and a bezel back, but then I got crit AGAIN, and after a long struggle of desperate shooting and the enemy constantly healing itself(thankfully its guns were blown off so it could only melee attack), I actually beat him! Pretty intense beating an enemy from critical condition.

I completed this today. Liked the game, hated the story. And I mean hated. It's the Prometheus of video game stories.
It's more the storytelling that's bad(par the course for Tri-ace from what I've heard of them), the story itself has sort of an interesting concept and I actually really like the setting. And most of the characters I like enough to balance it out(though whenever Zephyr gets all emo...narm city lol). Leanne's VA is actually really good. Vash is awesome. I actually want a sequel pretty badly, with hopefully better story, more weapon variety, a better dungeon system and maybe some additional techniques they can learn and pull off during a fight or something.
I'm on chapter 16 which I think is the last one, chapter 14 was pretty hard and I couldn't get past the first room(with the 6 guards) without losing like 3/4 of my health with everyone. I ended up spending an hour upgrading my guns and when I came back I WAS A MONSTER. The turrets took me a while to figure out but I found that when you're far away enough they'll switch targets. I took them out one by one, drawing close, and when their meter got towards the end I would back away till they switched targets, alternating between Vash and Leanne. It was time consuming but easy once I got it down. How do you get black hexes though? And I hear there's some secret bosses as well?
Oooh I also really like the Gan idee mines and Estia battle themes. Made hunting for yeti hides much less tedious. I'm pretty glad I got this game, hoping SEGA doesn't let this IP go to waste. Project X zone rep is nice though, it's what got me into it in the first place.

You the the black hexes from the final bosses of the game. To access the Bonus Dungeon you have to defeat the final Dungeon up to, but not including, the final boss and then leave with the black hexes. Though you might not want to do that on your first playthrough—apparently the Bonus Dungeon is so hard that you need to be near-max level and aim for 100% filling of the gun-mod area to defeat the bosses.
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!Which I had that at that point. Maxing out the characters is actually pretty easy by linking the arena to the right bonuses.
Oddly, being at a high level is a bit of a double edged sword, since you end up losing a LOT of bevels if a character runs out of HP.
"If you're out here why do I miss you so much?"I managed to complete the Bonus Dungeon today. Vashyron and Leanne were maxed out with machine guns and handguns respectively. I was actually kind of annoyed with the game after starting over — disappointed that the tinkerer didn't keep his end-game stock and that I have to progress through the game to unlock the arena fights all over again — but the Bonus Dungeon actually cheered me up a bit. It was a good mix of horribly frustrating and wonderfully satisfying. The best things about it, however, were the golden guns. I was not expecting those.
By the way, in Chapter 16, I'd only unlocked up to Rank 45 of the arena. Is that normal? I hadn't earned a star on every rank, so maybe that was the problem.
You have to visit Neverland I think to unlock the last 5 levels.
I heard you can fight Pater? How does THAT battle turn out?

I actually like the characters, yeah that LEANNE GOES BOTH WAYS GOOD TO KNOW HUR HUR gets old after the 15th time but I rather like his VA and that they actually have some personally, plus the playful banter in battle is pretty nice. Though sometimes I totally expect Zephyr to shout TITANS GO!!! whenever I do a triangle attack lol.
And yeah the combat is addictive. How do you get the other costume letters btw?
